Nonstop and HYLT got pushed by Baek Yerin’s album release and finally out of daily Top 100 after an insane 501 days (#1) and 441 days (#6) respectively.
Nonstop record will stand for 6 more days until it got overtaken by blue mammal (#2 at 496 days) as the longest charting GG song of all time.
1. Yoona - A person who make me interested in SNSD and pull me into Korean world. My initial ideal type and becoming my role model for these past years. Her outside is gorgeous but her inside is even more admirable.
2. Taeyeon - The voice of SNSD, the voice that I can literally listen for all night long (very pun intended). Her songs and albums are golden. Her personality shines a lot in recent years.
3. Seohyun - Our Golden maknae!!! Seobaby and Seobot evolves into gorgeous Seolady
4. Jessica - Taengsic duo is the best combination of vocal in the history of Kpop ever!!! OT9 after all these times???…ALWAYS!!!
The problem with JYP for their GG (and also other artists in their company except 2PM) is the company can’t seem to hold them on after their contract renewal comes up.
Wonder girls: 2 members left after their 1st contract renewal, disbanded after 2nd contract renewal
Miss A: disbanded after 1st contract renewal
GOT7: all left the company after 1st contract renewal
Twice: contract renewal coming up in 2022, who knows how many will stay or if the group will even continue at all.
SM and YG obviously have better contract renewal success rates and members and groups staying there for longer times so I should applaud them for that.
Well, everyone will want their favs to have more entry or in higher positions. You can’t please everyone with the list that is mostly subjective.
Create your own version of 100 K-pop masterpieces list and I’m pretty sure 99 out of 100 people are ready to disagree with your list in a heartbeat.
Overall, some songs in the list are questionable, some are strangely higher or lower than we expected. But Top 20 songs are still pretty iconic and impactful enough that it’s kinda acceptable.
Anyway, let's talk about some other topics like Melon Masterpieces list
MelOn — Top 100 K-pop Masterpieces List:
MelOn selected 100 k-pop masterpieces with the participation of 34 music critics and music industry officials based on symbolism, domestic/overseas popularity, artistic creativity and performance.
So in conclusion, higher ranking isn't based entirely on digital chart performance alone. Some songs in the list are very questionable why it's there, some songs are lower than we think but oh well...
They have revealed No.41-60 so far so let's guess what the remaining song might be for fun...
Checking the list:
2010-2019: https://www.melon.com/kpop100/index.htm?years=2010
2000-2009: https://www.melon.com/kpop100/index.htm?years=2000
2019: -
2018: 1 song - Du Ddu Du Ddu
2017: 4 songs: Spring day, As if its your last, Red flavor, You clouds rain
2016: 2 songs: Cheer up, Pick me (Produce 101)
2015: 2 songs: Me gusta tu, Bang Bang Bang
2014: -
2013: 2 songs: No No No, Expectation
2012: 4 songs: Gangnam style, Lovey Dovey, Fantastic baby, Twinkle
2011: 2 songs: Ma boy, I am the best
2010: 3 songs: Bad girl good girl, Good day, Oh
2009: 6 songs: Gee, Fire, Hot issue, Again and Again, Genie, Sorry sorry
2008: 2 songs: Nobody, Haru Haru
2007: 3 songs: Into the new world, Lie, Tell me
Well, this guess can be insanely spot on or completely off the mark so I don't expect much hahaha, just for fun during my free time.
Enough with all these arguments
Only time will tell if the song will be a hit or not after years pass by…
Looking back at Spring Day and I remember many people (yes, including younger me) thought that the song wasn’t a hit and didn’t deserve SOTY from MMA at all. But now, no one can even argue that it’s one of the biggest songs of the past decade. So when people look back at it now, people will say the song really deserved its SOTY…can’t say the same with the other award though (*cough*MAMA*cough*)
If you look closed closer to the chart run of Butter, the song started high but lost momentum after few weeks atop the chart. I was in another thread put out said that if Butter can chart for 15 weeks, it will be very successful. However, it is not, take into the consideration that The current Melon chart is still slow and the users number hasn’t been rising back yet.
Dynamite is abnormal, but BTS chart performance in top 10 melon (minus Dynamite) is not good compared with other digital monsters. The gap between Dynamite and other BTS titles/ singles chart performance may lead to confusion about BTS digital, Dynamite doing the number 3 time their second best single.
BTS songs may have lesser weeks in Top 10 compared to other digimons but they sure are stable af in Top 100.
I don’t think we have to worry too much on Butter and PTD performance. They will both surely stay in Top 100 for a very long time, I can guarantee that.
Why Seo Shin Ae, out of all messages she received in these past months, chose to reply to one single random DM from ifans writing in English instead of answering any messages from kfans with her native language? Doesn’t make any sense to me at all. And if the message was in July, why wait until this moment to reveal it when the damage has been done? I know for sure if it was a true respond from her, they would release this thing immediately and Neverland would immediately buy it, not when it’s almost 1 week after Soojin’s departure.
