Is this legit?
some of those ad views are like through the roof
it's not only promotion though
it's giving an impression of much higher than reality popularity. Also Youtube views become incomparable as a metric if you have to check how many ads everyone used to see who ACTUALLY got bigger views for example. Like people are always shitting on TXT and Enhypen for their "bad" YT views when in reality they'd probably be getting the same "good" numbers as a lot of the groups hyped for them, if they had ads. Does it actually work as promotion? I haven't really seen groups get higher organic views after a comeback with high ads. It's mostly down to hype.
I want to share that I finally got my first K-Pop ad!
But it was a search result ad, not a video ad
and u also dont know how it impacts the reco lists if it has ads. I understand Hybe why they dont want it. It doesn’t give them profit, it doesnt show the organic growth of their artists and mostly it’s just for music show wins. I think the real measurement of fanbase growth is to look at the likes & number of followers in YT.
For reference and insights:
Well they need to reach the audience and particularly for smaller groups without the same fandom base, they want to leverage all available opportunities. YT has a great and sophisticated platform for targeting the "right" audience, so you can leverage lookalikes and consumer behavior to serve kpop ads to people you know watch kpop videos and even get narrowly focused on the type if you want, like people who listen to girl groups or people who listen to Stray Kids if I had a hip-hop oriented group.
That's the beauty of social and digital advertising.
