Somewhat UO: These alternate universes\world-building concepts are getting repetitive and tired

  • Lore has been part of kpop for years. Just because recently it's become more trendy it doesn't mean it's getting overused or repetitive. If the company knows what their doing, the storyline can turn out to be really unique and intriguing. That's why I love enhypen, txt and bts' lore.

But if you dislike that kind of things then just ignore it? Nobody forces you to watch their lore related content

  • Even hybe gg will have it.

Nugu flop loona having so much impact

How does LOONA and HYBE NGG correlate? BTS had lore before LOONA was born and one of the widely known HYYH lore, on top of that. GFRIEND had lore before LOONA as well.

BELIFT GG having lore will make sense as HYBE is in charge of creative direction just like with ENHYPEN, Source Music GG having lore will make sense because GFRIEND had one before and as for ADOR, no one knows what Min Heejin is up to, but I guess it is LOONA impact that she created one of the best concepts in SM before LOONA debuted? LOL.

  • Just saying lore is really only here to get fans more interested if every group starts having lore it will not help anyone stand out from the pack unless the lore actually fricken makes sense and a hella good plot line.

I think lore is dumb but I see why others like it. But I will never get into a group cuz of the lore lmao

  • Well in contrary i'm loving this new era of Kpop

being a 2nd gen fan who saw , 2nd gen, 3rd gen groups, kpop groups quickly become uninteresting, yes they are talented, they release bops but reaching a certain limit you're like " yes another 1 dimension Kpop group who will do all the exact same thing than all the kpop group before them did "

I'm loving this whole storyline era, because it gives to Kpop group more layer, and it prove that Companies are thinking a lot more now to debut a Group, because they are thinking of a storyline and how this storyline will evolve in the futur

and aren't anymore in the whole "they can sing, they can dance, let's debut them"

I don't know how to explain this, but after years and years of the same thing, the same type of generic Kpop group, it's refreshing to see groups shaking the kpop scene with new ideas, new concept and be more deepful than their predecessor. It makes kpop fresh again that's maybe why i'm enjoying 4th gen GG more than i did with 3rd gen GG in general.

But i think if companies want to do this they should go all the way , and not just "here we did a storyline universe but we only left small hint in the MV, now it's you to analyze everything and create a theories who might be wrong"

if they want to do a Lore concept, do something good like Aespa, Enhypen or NCT where they leave hints in their MV... but after they gave you a "summary" of their universe or explain it through small video before comeback or comics etc...

Don't do something like Loona please (it's interesting) where they just put random things in the mv, let people analyze, and people never seems to get an answer to their theories

  • I didn't say they relate. I am saying another gg will have the same concept of lore. Both the statements r not related to each other. Nmixx visuals remind people of loona to some extent. And yes loona doing it first for 4th gen ggs. Also if we go back even exo has some world concept when they debuted. Never heard of gfriend lore concept it wasn't popular? I am sure if u dig up you'll find more groups with lores but they aren't popular or lore wasn't really a huge part of the aesthetics. But yes loona was very much defined by this world building concept and this lore thing being more conceptual is looking more and more like a trend.

Regardless of what you meant, my point still stands. HYBE NGGs will have lore not because of LOONA, but because it's their thing since BTS. Even in 2017 and 2019 interviews, RM and Bang PD mentioned how BigHit wanted to create something similar to Marvel Universe, Star Wars or Disney, which naturally expanded to other groups like TXT, EN, Japan BG and upcoming girl groups.

Regardless of who did it first or how many groups did it in total, BTS was the one who popularized it with HYYH lore and it is arguably the most popular one out there. It lead to huge influx of lores in following years, be it for girl groups or boy groups, and not to trigger anyone, but clearly are inspiration for many of existing groups' lores. and I assure you, LOONA having lore or NMIXX being similar to LOONA has nothing to do with HYBE girl groups and them having their own storylines as it is passed down to them from BTS and not LOONA.

  • Regardless of who did it first or how many groups did it in total, BTS was the one who popularized it with HYYH lore

    that's so wrong '-'

it's not because you started to like Kpop with BTS that it means BTS popularize the universe/lore thing

because EXO did, and deny it will bring nothing '-'

Everybody was talking about the EXO planet thing when EXO debut with their superpower

Even during Korean variety show they were talking about EXO superpower and how it's a hot talk and very original in kpop

everybody went crazy with the EXO pathcode etc...

and after this we had a lot of Lore concept with Vixx and their ancient mythologies concept, BTS and their youth series etc...

and in contrary most of the Group doing universe concept are more influence by EXO with a lot of group using fantastic, sci fi, supernatural type of lore like EXO did

Your comment would make a point if EXO was a nugu Group who didn't have enough impact in kpop to popularize the lore concept

but they aren't, they are a big group who left a big impact on Kpop and are still to this day the first group who come in people mind when talking about Kpop group with universe and Lore, so deny their and influence in kpop lore is dumb

And it'll still look like a trend. No matter the reason or history behind it. I do agree that bts surely inspired many to have lores more than loona ever will lol. But in all sense still very trendy.

  • that's so wrong '-'

And all of this doesn't change the fact that BTS took the popularity of lores to the new height, especially with global audience backing them up. It was followed by groups debuting with similar concepts that focused more on real life events, identity issues, youth struggles and gradual growth to accepting oneself, while including fantasy elements to some extent. I don't even need to mention Love Yourself series lol.

I have never discredited EXO in any way, It's up to you if you feel insecure about your faves impact. Me praising one doesn't automatically undermine other, there can be one or more causing popularity of something in different waves and influencing others. :)

if you can't ven understand what you write '-'

by saying that BTS popularize and push groups to do it you are discrediting EXO

and the impact that they left on groups like Vixx, WJSN and their fantastic zodiac concept, etc...

you are denying and discrediting EXO impact when you are acting like groups start to do universe concept after BTS, when tons of groups start to do it after exo debut, and BTS is one of these many groups who follow the universe concept format after seeing how successfull it was with exo

it'll not make your favs less successfull or less popular by giving credit where credit it's due and say yes EXO popularize this concept, and if Exo didn't do it and made this concept successfull we might have never seen this concept in kpop because kpop group would have been to afraid to take on such a big risk

  • if you can't ven understand what you write '-'

Do you need my validation that much? I already gave enough credit, but your reading comprehension has failed you. So just work on improving it.

I am not really into ancient EXO vs BTS debate. Scores were settled long ago. BTS overshadowed EXO and their lore ages ago and you can see end result today. Honestly, I don't need to write essay on my faves impact. It's present everywhere anyways. So have a nice day? lol.
