Thoughts on the badge system? [Constantly updated TL;DR in OP]

Going through the process of petitioning for a limited edition badge last month was interesting. We did manage to win our petition (thanks to so many awesome people who voted to support it. ), but ofc others weren't as fortunate to get enough votes. It's hard, since only the two highest vote getters are guaranteed to get badges in any particular month. If you don't have a big fandom, you are at a disadvantage. I tried to overcome the disadvantage of being in a small fandom that doesn't have a guild, by campaigning and trying to raise awareness that there was a petition even going on. I don't think casual fans and casual users of AKP are often aware. And then I still felt bad, because, for example, NCT was petitioning and their comeback was really important since it had the unusual feature of having all their members participating, which should be commemorated.

I thought, since the badge system is currently on hold with the rules being revamped, that it might be nice to get some feedback and ideas from users. Are there any things you would like to see added or changed to the badge system?

Personally, I would like to see some kind of points system so that it's not straight numbers voting, but maybe calculating in whether a group already has gotten an LE recently or not or if the event is a full comeback versus a single or something. Or if it is straight numbers, maybe have a deposit system, since a lot of people voting won't necessarily purchase the badge.

I also would love to see somehow making static badges easier to get, because I really feel like at least any mid-tier and higher group should have main static badges available even if they don't have ones for the individual members. That way stans of other groups who come here can fly their fave's badge and feel more included.

What about you? Any ideas or feedback?

1. Tiers for limited badges based on Guilds
2. Leaderboard
3. Buying badges from banned users
4. Splitting current static badge events to first have a prelim event for just group and fandom badge
5. Deposit/tier system
6. Commission system
7. Tiered static badges by group gen
8. User-created badges
9. Limited Badge petition winner split: top 2 made into LE by Ves, next 2 made via user-created (and approved) method
10. Weighted vote for petitions - allkill votes count more
11. Tiered pricing for a 3rd and beyond guild badge
12. Limited Badge Priority Ranking System (see below)

Priority 1: Overall vote winner

The petition with the most votes always wins 1st place. 2nd place though will de decided based on the other priorities listed below in that order.

Priority 2: Last time Limited Badges made

1st - Never

2nd - Over 6 months ago

3rd - Over 3 months ago

4th - within 3 months

Priority 3: Extenuating circumstances

1st - Member going on hiatus/Disbandment

Priority 4: Comeback type

1st - Debut

2nd - Full album

3rd - Single/Collab

4th - Remix

Priority 5: If all things are equal, loop back to priority 1!

So groups without any limited badges would always be ranked right after the outright winner and among those without LE badges, the descending priorities would kick in to further narrow down rank. If, for example, there are no groups that have never had LE badges made, we'd still use priority and the ones that haven't had badges made within the last 6 months would be higher rank.

NOTE: There would need to be a minimum to make this work and it might be relative to the amount of votes other petitions got. IE. Perhaps take the average vote count for all petitions and 2nd place petitions need to make that in order to be priority ranked.

Yes, some kind of restriction like you can only have two a year max or aren't eligible if you've had one in the previous 3-6 months would give more groups a chance to get a badge.

depends on which badges you're trying to get. A single LE badge generally costs 1000 akorns. The regular badges cost less.

Oh, that reminds me. If it remains a competition, it might be nice to have a dedicated space for like a leader board or something so we can easily see what the totals are and who wins (so no one gets surprised to find out they lost by visiting someone else's random thread ahem lol)

tbvh I don't like how the system works now much, it's about number of fans in the platform here only.

Also some groups get repeatedly LE individual badges selling few of them (sometimes none) while others with a decent amount of people willing to buy multiple badges 'cause of how unusual they are here get no opportunity for an LE Individual one.

Did Hoshi get one because of a solo? Can you think of any suggestions for how you would like to see it work?

oh and the leader board thing would also help people see which petitions are happening so they could easily go vote. RN, it's kinda hard to see what is currently happening in the badges subforum because it's a mix of current LE petitions, closed ones, static petitions, regular badge events both open and closed etc... Right now it even has holiday petitions. So anyone who doesn't already know that there is a petition happening might miss seeing that there's a group they like that's petitioning. A leader board or master thread for current petitions would be great.

Groups with a guild with a sub forum have to compete with other sub forums

Example: BTS vs Twice limited badges

Groups with a guild no sub forum vs other groups with guilds

Example: AESPA vs Red Velvet limited badges

Those without a guild can compete versus artists without a guild

Example: GWSN vs STAYC limited badges

Since the guilds are a pretty good measure of fandom size here on AKP.

Oh, that's an interesting idea. Or maybe even just having however many winners based on votes, but always having a random *wildcard* from any groups that manage to hit a minimum number. That will encourage more participation and smaller fandoms will always have a least some hope.
