I'm not sure. It could be a mix of everything, concept, visuals, member's personalities, etc. It just depends on the group. TWICE are popular for their catchy music, amazing visuals, and catchy dances. Aespa are popular for their experimental concept, all rounder members, and striking visuals. Blackpink for their badass concept, unique style, and also amazing visuals. Sometimes members of a group is more popular than the group itself. Everyone knows who Sejeong and Eunwoo are but don't even know they're from Gugudan (they disbanded ) and Astro.

yes because it's easier to build a fandom by pouring a lot of content for fans

that's the reason why GG seems to have now more and more big fanbase, who can most of the time compete with BG fandom

Look at Blackpink selling 1M

Twice being close of the 1M

Aespa already selling 500K with a debut album

this is the number that a mid tier BG would do nowadays

but it's way harder to be in the good graces of the GP

and the internationalization of Kpop will never help with this, because Ifans don't have impact on the koreans chart

and GG can do it, GP are more attracted to GG music that's why they are popular with them

so yes i would say that GG are more popular than BG because they always had the advantage in term of GP but with the internationalization of Kpop, they are also able to compete with BG in term of Fanbase size and album sales

in contrary BG are still nobody for the GP, they are only able to have huge fandom size

I definitely listen to more GGs than BGs.

I just tend to find female voices more pleasant to listen to. Always have. Don't ask me why.

True for example a BG stan is likely to listen to only one BG but a GG stan is more likely to listen to multiple GGs. Lot more casual listens and no “loyalty” type fandom.

Yes. Look at the charts and you'll see overall ggs regularly chart higher and longer than bgs. Ggs simply appeal to a wider audience thans bgs.

The only time bgs are more appealing is when it's an actual band that plays and creates music. Then it's bb (boy band) >>>>> gb by far.
