while this list has so many rappers who have started from underground scene, had participated in shows like SMTM and even won and was runner up, and somehow made impact in the industry with their lyricism, rap & music. Well at least I give Mark for that cus he is only naturally talented real rapper in SM history so far. But 1 out of 21 members isn't remarkable.

Only the fact that Changbin is told to rap and still be one of the best 4 gen rappers in K-pop is still amazing to me

Changbin auditioned with rapping skills on JYP, tho. With selfmade rap and beats. He wasn't "told to" exactly. The agency always saw his potential and interest in the area, so helped him to improve his rapping and production skills with software class and training. At least It was what he said

I think it was that his vocal teacher told him he should try rapping because he sings like a rapper. I think this was before he auditioned. I could be remembering wrong though.

THOUGHTS...

• Big Bang position is too high. There is a lot of overestimation of their abilities due to hype/how successful/swaggy they were. As a longtime rap fan.. they are not that good - G dragon especially
• Stray kids is good yes but I think changbin needs to switch it up..a versatility issue is starting to become apparent.
• Mark is a lot better than people give him credit for just because he's from SM. I think he's very good and his raps aren't incongruous with his identity which I give him mad props for. Takes me out when Korean rappers talk about "catching a case"/ life in the "ghetto"...
• Winner probably deserves a higher position
• Ikon position is likely just about right. I usually see people rank ikon above BTS but in my opinion - Bobby is overrated. He's living off the reputation of winning SMTM but his actual skills don't tally to a casual observer. His solo ("U MAD") this year was cringe.
