True or false?: a lot of veteran Kpop fans discovered/got into Kpop through other Asian media such as anime, Jpop, etc?

False to me.
I started watching anime and even others Asian media stuff in like 2009, but i just got in kpop in 2014/2015.
-
Anime has predominantly male audience base while kpop has a predominantly female audience base. (Speaking broadly)
Yes many women who like anime also tend to like kpop in my observation but I don’t believe the overlap is really one to one.
Kdrama was a much bigger gateway into kpop than other Asian media.

Fairly similar to me
Get into anime around 2010 and get into kpop around 2017

F. I bumped into it while looking for an American song and the K-Pop track of the same name happened to actually be good too.
-
False either way... I just like to watch and listen to a lot of things. Last year i was obsessed with France movies, then Spanish series, then Italian movies and etc etc. I just go with the flow and discover things kkk

Im really getting old dont know if i should laugh or cry but
Basically it was the first big social media before youtube, instagram, facebook etc
After brazilians and indians started dominating there and google put the last nail on the coffin by buying it and changing its whole design everyone moved to facebook so nowadays orkut doesnt even exist... Theres just an archive of what it used to be but almost everything disappeared for the regular interweb surfer but it was hella fun back in the day. Their forums were hands down the most fun i ever found on internet, i cant even explain how great it was

It was such a great SNS.
We colored our texts, added cute emojis, we had different communities where we interacted and it was wholesome! I love Orkut. I miss the old days!!

Not really... It was a big hit worldwide first, in fact it was invented by a finnish guy iirc, who is also named orkut. but brazilians and indians started dominating after a while then everyone else moved to facebook and after they changed how it looked and everything almost everyone abandoned it too and then google closed orkut

I think there's overlap in anime fans and kpop fans because it was almost a natural progression to go from watching anime to watching dramas and Korean dramas definitely had a leg up on Japanese dramas. Just like a lot of anime fans started listening to jrock after being exposed to it in anime, a lot of kdrama fans ended up getting into kpop. There are quite a lot of anime fans who still have no idea that some of the OP/ED songs are done by kpop groups.
For me personally, I first discovered kpop because of an anime forum so I guess I technically did discover it because of anime. Someone posted Super Junior when they debuted and there was debate about it copying Johnny's and other jpop groups. At the time I was in my very early 20s and was very anti-pop/dance music so I hated it. I was aware of kpop and listened to a bit of it... I absorbed a lot of it from tumblr back in the early 10s cause damn a lot of videos give me deja vu, but I didn't actually become a legit kpop fan until 2019.

false for me, know k-pop from Full House and Princess Hours (drama) and first k-pop grup I like is 2PM (still my favorite group) around 2008 or 2009
-
In India, anime like Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, and Pokemon used to be super mainstream so I watched it ever since I was a child.
I only got into Kpop around 2010 and that was because Super Junior was getting really popular in the Middle East where I lived at the time.
