True or false?: a lot of veteran Kpop fans discovered/got into Kpop through other Asian media such as anime, Jpop, etc?

False to me.

I started watching anime and even others Asian media stuff in like 2009, but i just got in kpop in 2014/2015.

Anime has predominantly male audience base while kpop has a predominantly female audience base. (Speaking broadly)

Yes many women who like anime also tend to like kpop in my observation but I don’t believe the overlap is really one to one.

Kdrama was a much bigger gateway into kpop than other Asian media.

I'm not a k-pop fan but I heard a k-pop song first in 2011 or 2012 on youtube, it was either 2NE1 or BB, it had nothing to do with other Asian industries.

I'm not a veteran, but I got into K-pop last year because of K-dramas. More specifically, because of IU.

First time i heard about kpop was when orkut still existed, i met a couple of people who were into jpop/anime and some were huge fans of shinee and hyped lucifer so much, so i guess its partly true

False either way... I just like to watch and listen to a lot of things. Last year i was obsessed with France movies, then Spanish series, then Italian movies and etc etc. I just go with the flow and discover things kkk

After brazilians and indians started dominating there and google put the last nail on the coffin by buying it and changing its whole design everyone moved to facebook so nowadays orkut doesnt even exist... Theres just an archive of what it used to be but almost everything disappeared for the regular interweb surfer but it was hella fun back in the day. Their forums were hands down the most fun i ever found on internet, i cant even explain how great it was

We colored our texts, added cute emojis, we had different communities where we interacted and it was wholesome! I love Orkut. I miss the old days!!

Not for me. I discovered it through my daughter watching SBS PopAsia show. I didn't know anything about K pop or K dramas before I got into it and I've been a fan for ten years now.

Not really... It was a big hit worldwide first, in fact it was invented by a finnish guy iirc, who is also named orkut. but brazilians and indians started dominating after a while then everyone else moved to facebook and after they changed how it looked and everything almost everyone abandoned it too and then google closed orkut

im definitely not a veteran but i accidentally found out about kpop before i even knew what it was

For real, the communities there were the best it was so fun and you'd find people of all kinds and i met SO MANY great people there... I still have contact of some of them, and its really cool to see that many are doing well irl.

Somewhat true for me. I'm heavily into anime but I heard about Kpop but don't care about it.

My ignorant self thought it was just boys giving girls a self service.

Then I saw this pic of Taeh and thought he was an anime cosplayer!

That's when I started googling him.

i got into kpop because a local tv station used to air Music Bank like a decade ago.

For me techinally through gaming (players were singing gg baby baby) but I got into kpop from kpop itself

Same for me! I was into anime, jrock and a somebody made an anime edit with a Boa song. I have been a kpop fan since then.

Its kinda true on my part, I first heard kpop around 2007 through my classmates who are very into anime/jpop.

But what got me into kpop was kdrama.

I used to watch a lot of anime when I was 13-15. A year or two later, I got into kpop so your conclusion isn't a stretch. Ik a lot of anime fans irl who are into kpop as well.

True for me, i got into kpop from watching K-drama like boys over flowe (2009) and you are beautiful (2009), but i always knew about kpop since like 2006 just never got into it unlit 2009.

I discovered kpop through anime openings and jpop. I was a huge fan of BoA's Japanese songs in particular.

false for me, know k-pop from Full House and Princess Hours (drama) and first k-pop grup I like is 2PM (still my favorite group) around 2008 or 2009

In India, anime like Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, and Pokemon used to be super mainstream so I watched it ever since I was a child.

I only got into Kpop around 2010 and that was because Super Junior was getting really popular in the Middle East where I lived at the time.
