BLT sandwich for me, my mom used to make it for all kids as breakfast couple times a week when I was little.
She swapped bacon for pan fried pork fillet.
Mom is great.

All foods make me think of my mother, she was a good cook and taught me. I miss her so much,
Bun rieu (Viet crab noodle soup) or banh bao (pork buns)
My dad retired early, so he took over cooking while my mom worked.
Whenever she cooked, it would a labor intensive "specialty" recipe that my dad would never do on his own lol.
Fast food...my mom never cooks lol

My mum is incredible at cooking, and I don't even think I'm biased. She used to make really tasty biscuits and gravy every morning for me before school. Whenever I have biscuits and gravy now, I'm always like "This is disgusting compared to the kind my mum would make"
Pizza because when we were kids we weren't able to afford it so she would make pizza's dressing up bread slices with pizza sauce, cheese slices and ham then ofc she'd cook it in the oven, all of the ingredients were a (Canadian) cheap food brand called noname
And for my dad it would be soup! lmao because he would make us Lipton chicken noodle soup with cut up wieners in it haha
pork hock 😁
Chicken rendang. No one does it better than her. And it got the seal of approval from all family members, my aunties, my cousins, uncles. Literally everyone.
Are you in Indonesia?^^
Are you in Indonesia?^^
No. Im from Malaysia.
Right..
Is Rendang a shared culture of you guys and Indonesia?
Yes. Because we both come from the same race, which is Malay (if you are talking about the 4 main races of men). And people come and go from both countries back in the day, so the same culture and dish are shared between us.
pork hock 😁
That sounds Asian~

Banh bao looks Chinese steamed bun alike...never had it before but interesting to know..
We have a ton of Banh mi here in Vietnamese food places and people love it.

French pies are mostly simple in stuffing, cheese plays a big part.cut
English pies can be like put a pot of stew in the pastry. many of their pies contain gravy, flow out when cut open.

My mom can not cook the only thing she does is show me recipes and I make her favorites based off them. But the one food we both love and I will always think about her is rice an beans.

Yeah, I'm not sure there's a difference between Viet and Chinese pork buns lol.
Some Viet dishes are Chinese inspired, some are straight up Chinese dishes :-D
I think banh mi has replaced pho (beef noodle soup) as the most well known Viet food.
Arancini
They're little rice balls made with a variety of fillings. My favourite is mozzarella.
So many to choose from cause she cooks every type of meal.
Kugelis - Described as a Potato Pudding. Potato, bacon and onion mixed together and baked.
Poison. She sure does make me think of it a lot
Aloo Paratha
A typical French dish with cheese, tartiflette.
An American restaurant chain called Sizzler's. When I was little, my dad would go fishing while my mom and I would be around the area. She took me to this bookstore and to Sizzler's. That moment stuck with me a lot for some reason. I look back on it with a lot of fondness.
Indian food
Filipino Spaghetti
