Past “it girls” usually had an innocent or sexy image: Suzy, Sohee, Yoona, Hani, Seolhyun, Lee Hyori. They were liked by both men and women. Yet Jennie (and Hwasa) was neither of those exactly although she has her sexy aura but her image was more of the confident/bad ass girl. So what does this have to do with feminism? In Korea it’s about breaking gender norms. It was expected for the next it girl to be a sexy queen or relatively demure beauty. So it was the perfect time for Jennie to become an icon for many young women. She wasn’t known for a sexy fan cam, innocent aiing or standard beauty. Her handlers must be aware of this and it’s why they gave her SOLO which was angsty. Her dating scandals also had no effect because her popularity wasn’t dependent at all on men believing she was an innocent virgin.
Was Korean feminism a reason Jennie became so big in Korea?

I doubt this has anything to do with feminism cuz feminism was prominent in sk even when second gen was alive. Sure there are plenty of male idols who have called Jennie and hwasa their ideal types but neither seem very interested in appealing to the pure south Korean beauty or sexy gf image.
The attention they get from male idols in award shows are only used to slut shame and drag them. It's funny how both were attacked by colorist and racist comments and "woke" I fans only sat back and fanned the flames.
This woke Stan Twitter version of liberal feminism has harmed them on several occasions. Cue jennie's nurse outfit controversy and hwasa tying her hair up and being cancelled cuz it "looked" like cultural appropriation. The network had to legit clarify to those clowns that it's not what they thought it was. Yikes.

No. Jennie became an it-girl because of her chic aura ( not only) but off-stage she is adorable. Her beauty is versatile : elegant and cute at the same time.
Hwasa became an it-girl in Korea because she was natural, funny and relatable in Live Alone. Her mukbang went viral and all the dishes were sold-out.
It’s not just about their confident onstage personas.

ALL BIG3 FEMALE IDOLS
got nothing to do with Female empowerment or Feminism they're the worst exemple ever. Their company controls absolutely everything for them. Jennie is already struggling to get credit on Blackpink songs ...
I know that you love your idols very much, and I have absolutely no problem with that, but try to see who are the female idols that really act for women in Korea.

Jennie really blew up after running man bc people found her cute and funny. But tbh she started to really gained huge popularity during AIYL era. Jennie is the perfect example of a idol being liked by Both males and females so i don’t understand your point. Boy find her cute/sexy/pretty. Girl want to dress like her, having the same hairstyle and makeup like her.
