There is something really peculiar about ex-Armys

  • Most of them I have noticed cannot let go of BTS and continue to stay obsessed with them. Shading them directly or indirectly, being passive aggressive. Tis sad. I could never bother to keep up with someone I unstanned.

Armys, why do you think they behave like this?

  • i dunno as well. but, some of their obsessive behaviours are cringe. they should just focus but can't seem to do it. are their faves boring or what?

Its also hilarious how they like to repeat everywhere that they unstanned, like yes we get it, you are edgy, you moved on to something "better". But just get over Bangtan ffs.

  • Maybe it's like being exes :pepe-cross:

I guess when people are invested with one thing so much to a point it becomes an obsession, one day when they let go., it still lives in their minds.. Like people who were in a relationship still going on to stalking or sometimes even badmouthing their exes....

I agree, love and hate are two sides of the same coin. Have you seen this with other groups too? I mean when fans unstan are they this pokey and into the former group's business?

  • All I know is that they want their new faves to have what the tannies have. But since, not saying it’s impossible, there’s a very small chance of that to be happening, they’ll praise their faves while shading the tannies to make themselves feel better. Kind of pathetic if you ask me, but that’s the way they roll. :siptear:

  • i have a friend like this. instead of selling her new fave to me she is telling me why i shouldn't stan bts because they changed blah blah blah.

like girl. why not say good points about your fave. well, i guess she can't. almighty vocals won't budge me if music, rap, lyricism and personalities doesn't slap and they don't sing live at concerts. weird thing is she's more updated than i am in some bts news.

Oh yeah absolutely... many ex-exols love to downgrade exo, although I think I haven't seen much ex-shawols do that..

I guess the greater and more rowdy the fandom the more is such a consequence..

Like armies are huge so the proportion of such people is also bound to be great...

This is madness and we see this so often on various platforms. Its baffling to me how they cannot move on from BTS.

  • Ex-ARMYs also possessed this ability to write long dissertation about BTS and why they fell out of love lol

It’s fascinating. Like leaving Bangtan makes you wanna write long epic story to dramatise your tragic love story

    I love Pikachu.

    Always have, Always will.

    "Pika-Pi"

  • "i unstanned because their music changed. i love their old music" -did hyyh, wings, etc. disappear in spotify or something? lol

these ex-armys are almost always aware of bts new realeses because they watch the teasers/mv and/or comments on bts' changing discography.

moral story: i should still thank ex-armys for contributing bts' views and streams.

  • I think theres two types of them:

    1. The ones who were never armys in the first place, but love to claim how they "stanned" BTS. In reality BTS was never their #1 group and they unstanned when BTS surpassed their actual faves

    2. The shallow kpoppies, who moved on when they realized BTS is not giving them the fanservice or the "only I know this nugu group" feeling. They dont get the access to the group, they dont get extreme fanservice, they dont get shirtlessness etc. Some of them (now NCT stans) even publicly complained about how BTS isnt "slutty" enough for them

In both cases, they are obviously bitter and jealous that BTS is more talented and is doing better than their faves both commercially and when it comes to critical recognition.

  • Oh god them and their long ass essays nobody asked for… it’s funny when ex-armys have their group counselling/therapy under their why I UNstanned BTS 😂😂😂. Like was it that serious? To let the whole world know? Might as well tell me your bathroom schedule.

Tbh most of the times these ex-armies are bandwagon stans/kpoppies and multis. The moment BTS surpassed their faves, and armys didn’t yield to their demand of “letting their faves shine too” they make all sorts of claims about the fandom, BTS to justify why their current fandom / artist is better… BLAH BLAH reminds me of those jealous aunties/uncles who constantly compare their children and degrade others

Armys, why do you think they behave like this?

    I was swift's fan .

    I dont like her anymore

But i dont go on shading her , her singing, her new lame artistic music everyday

They behave like this for attention and to act edgy.

  • The twitter threads always have counseling sessions in the comments like it was a shared traumatic experience 🤭

I've unstanned so many artists but I've never obsessed over them the way ex-armies do over bts. I was a huge swifty a long time ago but unstanned after her music changed. I made peace with her change in music direction and moved on with my life. I still listen to all her old albums. I've never once shaded her or written long ass essays on why I'm no longer a fan every time she releases a song :cryingr:

Imagine announcing that you're no longer a fan and why every single chance you get. Yet you still follow their every move and release just so you can say how their old music used to be better and that they've changed. No one cares;(

their entire personality is shaped around their stan twt exp...weird

  • Last pop group I stanned before BTS was Arashi and I dont go around bashing them and writing essays on how toxic the fandom was and how much more talented BTS is. Instead Im still forced to defend them from delusional kpoppies even on AKP, even if I stopped actively following them years ago :pepe-sad:

I guess if youre confident in your new and former faves, you dont need to obsess over your former faves and you can keep the positive feelings towards them and all the good memories.

Armys, why do you think they behave like this?

Maybe coz their new faves ain't living up to Bangtan's greatness? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

And I also used to stan Big Bang, you don't see me writing long essays

about why I unstanned them. I just moved on.

  • They want to be integrated in the Kpop stans community in which hating on BTS is normalized but in secret they still listen to them. It's just that BTS do better than their others faves.

    This.

  • that's just how it goes for any act that becomes big. I remember when some Billie Eilish fans were complaining on how "Billie has changed so much since her fame and isn't as authentic as she was during her nugu days".

Some people have a thing to like "unpopular" stuff to feel edgy, but once it isn't edgy anymore they don't like it. They move on to like other unpopular stuff, which are supposedly better and make them feel edgy again.

I don't understand these kind of fans. It is like they resent their favourite artists for becoming hugely popular because they want to feel that only they know about them. The idea it is only cool to like something unpopular is just dull.

If anything BTS are more likely have such fans than any other artsist. They come from a kpop background and even in that scene, they were barely known when they debuted. Listening to BTS is like the most generic thing nowadays, and they don't like that.

  • ex army who wrote dissertation are people who seek validation for their decision or clout chaser who think they're edgy and better than other people

  • Bumping this cause I still don't get the obsession and damn do I see it rampantly on this forum every day :pepeshut:
