I heard many times that milk promotes strong bones and is a vital source of calcium. However, does it actually increase your height? Or is it just a myth?
Does milk actually make you grow taller?
-
-
It plays a part, but it's a bit overstated, I think. Genetics aside, protein intake during childhood has more to do with the nutritional side of it. This is why certain countries' average height increased after adopting diets richer in protein.
-
Not for me and I drank loads of the stuff when I was a kid, so much so that my mother used to call me a poddy calf. I’m only five foot. Height is mainly genetic.
-
Yes I drank one cup, and became tall enough to destroy all buildings and mankind. Do NOT drink milk under any circumstances. It's too dangerous.
Jk, umm yeah any good nutrition I guess will help you grow and stuff, but like. I doubt milk makes you grow super dramatically. I've drank my fair share of milk growing up and I'm still a 5'1" dwarf.
-
Forgot to mention in my earlier post...
Vitamin D, especially during childhood, is important for height as well. A great way to achieve this would be through sunlight exposure. Wear your sunscreen, of course. Studies show low levels of vitamin D can stunt growth during puberty.
-
probably gives you like 5cm more than what you would get without it or something maybe lol

if you don't have the calcium to grow the bones, no matter how tall your genes code for, it won't grow past your body's resource limit.
aka if you give your body as much calcium it would ever need, it will reach its full potential.
-
Completely false
I'm still short
-
If that would be it, than I was not so short
-
i believe there is some evidence that drinking milk in your growing years only (so only as a child) can make u end up taller

I’m so glad I drank two glasses of milk every day since birth!
-
Nah it’s a myth and I’m lactose and 5’3 lol so going to elementary school back in the day was hard. Teachers would ram that shit in your head and give it to you for lunch.
What they didn’t tell you is if you remove dairy or even cows milk from your diet your skin will be much better.
-
Mention of Growth Hormones given Cows that gets into the Milk. In turn causes growth in Milk Drinkers.
Not saying Milk is the cause. Western Countries seen average growth increase by Generations. Kids growing bigger than their Parents.
-
I heard it's bc of the hormones or smth? I'm not really sure lmao
-
I don't think it is true. Height has more to do with genetics. But I do believe it strengthen bones.
-
not really
-
I drink warm milk all the time because it makes me tired and guess what, my 154 cm self hasn't grown in years
-
Short answer: no.

Nutrition does play a part at a person reaching their 'predetermined height'. But not taller. It's basically genetics. And people getting taller through history is because of better nutrition of species in general, not because of the nutrition of an individual.
-
Ion drink cow milk
N im still tall
So ig nah
-
It just helps, not make you immediately taller, and not a myth either
Scientists says genetic and nutritions during childhood play a great role on your height. But as per my observation of my surrounding, it doesn't apply to all people

Lies, lies, lies.
I am 145 cm at 13 lol.

No clue, but I had a ton of milk growing up.
And now I'm 1.90(6.23)

Lies, lies, lies.

Thanks for reviving this thread.
-
Biggest lies ever.
Genetics are the ones who rule the game.
-
It will help you reach your potential because it’s nutrient rich and that’s required for growth.
You’re not gonna grow taller than what you are genetically predisposed to be.

That's TALL
I also have a tall friend but I don't think she's THAT tall
But it mainly has to do with genetics. I'm like in between my mom and dad's height. I'm slightly taller than my mom and slightly shorter than my dad.
-
didn't work for me
-
Broiler chickens stuffed with growth hormones are a better option.
Seriously speaking, it may be partially true. I've always hated milk. My brother is 1.92 m and I'm 1.67 (girl) which is not above average in my country. Maybe I could be taller, but I'm fine with my height.

my dad is a midget, my mom is a little shorter than him. my friend's mom is like 6'1 her grandmother is like 6'4 and her dad is ,6'0 i think she's just lucky to be in a tall family
