How was K-pop taken as a joke in 2nd gen, but not seen as one now? In fact, 2nd gen was when the K-Netz was intuned with idol groups the most. SNSD were rating magnets on variety shows. Everyone knew Big Bang. Stop looking at everything from a Western perspective, there's a whole world outside the West.

i was only into kpop during the 3rd gen but the i can see the influence. most of 3rd gen (and some 4th gen) see 2nd gen as their role models and what made them wanted to be an idol. how is that not impactful?

The very first k-pop group I saw on French TV was KARA in 2009. Just because a fuckton of schoolgirls around the world jumped on the BTS bandwagon thanks to the rise of social media doesn't mean everything that came before is nonexistent nor irrelevant.

2nd generation definitely had impact, especially in Japan and China. What the fans of that gen groups can't understand is that bts alone achieved much more, made much bigger impact and brought much more recognition than all those groups of the 2nd gen. People can whine all they want about it, that's the truth
