it is because BH always uses them as proof whether in international sales, the days chosen for their returns and digital sales

It's because of two reasons:

4/5 of them got sick in the summer, pushing Magic back weeks to late October, when I think it should have been released in early September.

Because they had a 7 month gap between albums, a lot of the bandwagon fans that stanned because of the "BTS brother group" association left, leaving only the fans who wanted to wait.

Nope and boy groups simply wont do well digitally in Korea of the last like 10 yeas the boy groups that did good digitally are like 4 boy groups.

That's why I voted for the last option, because they need to grow their digitals in Korea.

They have a stable fanbase, but they should go to Korean variety shows more; BH can't keep them on YT shows only, they need to be on cable to promote more effectively.

They lost a lot of fans bc of the hiatus before it, but it's their song with the best longevity! During award show season the year it was released it started charting again on Melon Daily and stayed there for a while. It really helped them reestablish their fanbase, and of course the Japanese version did really well as their first Japanese tt.

But I do think a hit song could make them a top group. They're growing steadily internationally (the US and Japan are where most of their views come from), I just think they need a hit in korea.

I think OP means like a top 5 BG, after BTS, EXO, SVT, NCT.

I actually think SHINee is in 5th right now, mainly because their digitals are still decent and their physicals improved a lot. They get outsold physically by the top 4th gen BGs though.

Most of the top 4th gen BGs are vying for that 5th spot anyway, since groups like MX, NUEST, & GOT7 aren't pulling the numbers they used to.

I guess so. Their fanbase is growing, their sales are growing, their music is pretty diverse and for different taste, they're doing good in Japan and that anime ost was a genius move, cause even I paid attention to them again, so yeah, they need a domestic hit (cause I think it's easier for them than a hit in the west and if they'll get a hit in Japan SK wouldn't give af about it) to stand out and become really visible among other young bgs and next step to be a top group is to sustain the interest and mayhaps get another hit. The question is if it'll be this cb or any other in the future.

Edit: if you mean top like at least Seventeen for example that there is a lot of work ahead tbh

Ohhhh. Well international streaming they need to catch up with stray kids as well. I guess 4th gen is a bit irrelevant in Korean streaming might be hard because Korea seems to care less and less about BGs but out of everyone else they have a better chance of charting. And for physicals I think they need to beat their label mate enhypen.

TXT actually does really well on Spotify (they should have all 4 Korean albums above 100M streams before June, and they have 17 out of 20 b-sides abover 10M streams), but SKZ does better for now.

TXT has some decent Melon streams (324M+ last time I checked).

They'll be good physically against any group (besides BTS, SVT, NCT, BP, EXO), the fandom has grown a lot these past 7 months.

Honestly praying for cable promo this cb. We get a lot of content but I feel like its definitely catered more towards the existing fanbase. Drama trended on melon search for like 3 days after amazing saturday, so I think consistent variety appearances could do wonders.
