i don’t have any stake in this svt or nct stuff but there’s no denying that svt are far ahead of nct (no offense to people who stan them)

and no denying that exo has an appeal and footing with the korean gp that neither svt nor nct have, despite being outsold by svt (meaning svt probably having a bigger fanbase but way less gp popularity)

so even then it’s like.... whether you’re speaking in terms of literal size or literal popularity to gp.... svt or exo is still ahead of them....

Nah EXO are still the 2nd biggest bg. NCTand SVT have yet to outsell EXO’s highest selling album and EXO hasn’t had a comeback in like 2 years if i’m not wrong.

Let’s not talk about korean charts cause we all know almost all bgs including NCT and SVT can’t even chart their title tracks on Melon

If i’m not wrong EXO’s digitals (YouTube views, Spotify streams) are also stronger.

Just because they haven’t had a comeback in a while doesn’t mean they got surpassed.

I think the album you are talking about is close or already hit 1.5M recently but is very far from 2M. It will probably never hit that mark considering the last gaon update. Pretty sure carats were saying the next comeback had as goal 2M

Edit: I looked up. 17's best selling album is actually 1.39m, so ya very far from 2m lol

It just shows how views don't mean much, Bambi sold crazily but the MV itsel is not doing too great. I think the company didn't put much $$ on it.

Does it matter? Sales aren’t everything. To be completely honest, the quality of the music is most important to me. I could care less about how much they sale.

being top group is not about sales but about how much impact u made imo

and it is undoubtedly BTS & EXO had the most impact from 3rd gen groups so they are fixed #1 and #2 for me, rest idk

Honestly I think NCT and Seventeen are both pretty equal in terms of popularity. They both sell around the same amount of albums though it will be interesting to see how NCT Dream performs this next comeback considering it’s a full album and it’s the original OT7 lineup so the hype is once again really massive (similar to NCT 2020 hype).

I still think EXO is #2 because Baekhyun’s and D.O’s popularity alone >>>>> anyone from NCT and Seventeen. But to the people downplaying NCT, I wouldn’t be so sure about it. They had an explosive 2020 and doubled/tripled their sales and fandom growth plus they’ve been consecutively ranking #2 firmly behind BTS on brand reputation rankings for the last few months now. It’s honestly a toss up between NCT and Seventeen at this point. But I have a feeling once EXO drops that album they’ve been teasing this discussion will be over lol.

While Seventeen did not have one album that sold over 2m copies, its total for the year did sell 2.1M copies. Seventeen had two albums that placed 3rd and 4th on Hanteo. The total of the 2 albums is 2.1 million. Similarly, NCT had 1.45M if you combine Resonance 1 and 2. (I’m not counting the subunits here..)

On Gaon, Seventeen had 2.5M between its two albums (which were #3 and #6). It’s top selling album had 1.37M. For NCT, it had 2M between the two Resonance albums. The top seller was 1.28M.
