Well, dictionary definitions say it is :

- an intense and typically non-sexual liking or admiration felt by one woman or girl for another

- a woman or girl who is the object of another's intense liking or admiration

In K-pop it would mean girls with an image that make other girls like them/cheer on them? BlackPink have a very cool and badass girl image so other women might have a "crush" on them because of it? Basically, a group of women made to appeal other women. Just my guess.

I think girl crush is basically everything that doesn't rely on the typically perfect girlfriend/daughter-in-law imagery. And that is not strictly sexy either, as sexy is its own concept. Girl crush is supposed to empower girls, hence the name.

I agree. I think the definition of girl crush be like those concepts but with a sense of girl power or female encouragement. Maybe even just encouragement in general. But also for of age idols. Itzy for example does empowerment in a lot of their songs, especially title tracks but I'd consider them teen crush because of the vibe it gives off and because of their age...

I'd say that Twice Breakthrough and Fake & True are great examples of girl crush. In Breakthrough, it's all about never giving up and that you should push through and be strong all while being badass women in the video. Same with Fake & True but on a deeper level per se and more like never doubt yourself and you're worthy. I think it's really important on how they did English subtitles.

It's a concept where female fans can have a platonic crush on the idols, as in look up to them, want to be like them, feel empowered by them etc. Usually girl crush groups have a bold and confident image with empowering lyrics. My only gripe with this concept is it literally takes advantage of feminism to sell. Most of the time, the songs are written by men, the MVs are directed by men and the concepts are chosen by men and most importantly the idols themselves often are revealed to have entirely different images and personalities in real life. So they're basically wearing feminism like a costume. The most authentic girl group with a girl crush concept I can think of is Brown Eyed Girls.

I don't read much into it. I just think girl crush = what girls thinks is cool or badass.

This is what i think of as well.

The target demo of GC groups are women. Whereas groups like Twice and Izone have a crap ton of fanboys who are attracted to their cutesy/elegant image, groups like BP and Itzy attract mostly female fans in different ways. BP are top of the line visual fashion queens and their songs/;yrics are full of bad girl attitude. Itzy are top of the line performance queens and their dances are full of bad girl attitude.

Honestly, all you have to do is watch Boombayah. The song is the epitome of girl crush, it's the national anthem of the girl crush concept.
