Changed the title of the thread from “Chaeyoung - "SHOOT Firecracker)" BOP or FLOP” to “Chaeyoung - "SHOOT (Firecracker)" BOP or FLOP”.
  • I am very tired of disco in the Twiceverse because it has been so dominant in the Jane Kim era, but this really slaps, just like Dive did. I guess I prefer it laid back. It's so smooth and that chorus is timeless. The playing is great, Gliiico absolutely cooked.

    The album I'm mixed on.

    It's interesting.

The ingredients are top tier. The instrumentals are atmospheric and deceptively intricate at times. But this supposed full album is shorter than Jihyo's Zone, and while I don't normally complain about song shortness, here the brevity doesn't come from naturally short verses or choruses. Instead she's decided to cut out repetition. Avacado, the opener, has no repeated parts, even though it has something that would be a chorus (which she... has stuck at the beginning). Band Aid had what sounded like a great hook that you never hear again.

This is obviously all intentional, but, like, why? The pop form structure persists because it is satisfying to listen to. It's almost like she's subverting pop structure for the sake of avoiding the pop label? But why write pop hooks if you're going to avoid presenting them as choruses?

It's frustrating! BF sounds like it could be one of my favourite songs of the year, but it's like I only listened to a promotional preview of it.

Overall, one of most interesting releases to come from a "big" girlgroup I think, I'm already seeing comparisons to Goblin. But in terms of "solo member goes alt", it's not on the same level as RM's Right Place Wrong Person for me. And if we're including smaller groups, Fatou's mixtape was also pretty non-k-pop and also really good. And in terms of Twice solo, I think Zone still comes out on top, because Zone has Room. But I already prefer this to everything Nayeon and Tzuyu have put out to date.

  • Only listened to TT for now. And I love it!!! Its soooo Chae coded. Quirky, cute, aritistic and fun! :lovec:

MV, song, outfits, choreo all go so well together. I think this might favorites among twice solos.

I am really in to pinkpanthress music these days so this song perfectly fits in with the vibe i am feeling.

Will go through her full album when free, looking forward to her performances! :cheer-bunny::iloveyoub::chicken-dance:

  • This is far better than I was anticipating (given that it's C‍haeyoung we're talking about, I was expecting something "weird").

  • BOP

Very good song. I personally wasn't expecting much, having never liked Twice or the previous members' solos, yet I found myself enjoying the music after only 15 seconds.

There's a great chemistry between her vocals and the instrumental part of the song. I also love the music video. I don't know if she's ever said she likes this artist, but there's a "Yukika" influence in this song.

DaisyTheGenuine i know you will like it so come :pepe-pj-green:

  • There's nothing more tragic than loving a song but disliking the singer

She has impeccable music taste and a great pen, but I just can't with her voice :emotionalpepe:

  • Flop...

As that's based on expectation to rank high because she's a TWICE member.

It's not a song I like but the Live Version is so much better than the MV.
