I mean answers like “oh the story was boring” or you know something like that I value but “oh that’s a kids movie” is the type of response people who have absolutely no personality will say.

Seeing as she’s not my friend and is an idol ofc this has no relevance in the grand scheme of things other than making her appear like she has the personality of a cardboard.

You know what it's all clicking into place. Isn't there a running joke that whatever SNSD song Taeyeon didn't like ended up being a smash hit like Gee and others? I guess now it makes sense why Golden is getting PAKs.

I haven't seen this movie and have no plans to, but I'm surprised she's dismissing it for that reason, because I'm sure if you looked up the genre for her own group's music it would say the same thing.

not sure why people are surprised or shocked. She also said she hated pretty much every single SNSD song except for one because of how bubblegum pop it was.

Idk imo it is indeed close minded response to give. This is one of the biggest movie your country has released in a while and it’s being appreciated and everywhere and you dismiss it as a “kids movie” ofc you will face backlash.

It’s better to either keep quiet or give some legitimate criticism. Being condescending will get you hate. No doubt about that.

Imagine if everyone dismissed SNSD or idol music as “kids music”. In fact this frequently happens IRL people do dismisses all idol related things are being for kids. And kpop fans do get angry at it a lot as well.

There is plenty of animated media which has a wide audience range aka kids and family that can be consumed by anyone.

I admit that when I first heard about the movie, I thought it perhaps was a PG-13 kind of movie for some reason.

But well... knowing that it is a children's movie doesn't make me go "Oh, it is a children's movie. I'm too old for this."

Like I enjoy some children's movies, e.g. I really liked Coco (but maybe because it was better than I expected)

Or the kind of children's movies that I like are the sort of movies that people of all ages can enjoy. (which is why this is a "kids & family movie")

It is quite literally a kids movie, and while I do agree that it's not right to brush off things as "something for kids" or believe that "it's for kids therefore it's stupid", but besides that she clearly didn't enjoy the movie enough to keep watching it. Maybe there are other things for kids she enjoys, I don't know. I literally don't know her.

Saying she might have the personality of cardboard is just as immature, if not more so, than her brushing the movie off as a kids movie. And just because this movie is "the biggest movie her country has released in a while" doesn't mean she owes it anything...

she didn't say her honest opinion, she trashed it even tho she didn't even finished it. she wanted to sound so edgy, calling it a "kids film". even she explained what she didn't like that would be fine but she didn't do that. she sounds like a person who thinks so highly of herself.

I don't think it's a big deal because not everybody is going to like a popular show or movie. I do think it's a bit unfair to dismiss it by calling it a kid's film. We do have to remember not everybody likes animated films.

using kids movie as insult is hilarious. all disney classics are kids movies and they are loved by everyone. they are classics for a reason.

you also have people who say "it's not a good film but it's a kids movie so it's fine". kids aren't stupid. film is good or it isn't, it doesn't matter who is it made for.

the reason why kpop demon hunters is loved is simple: it's a good story and characters, good animation and korean culture. pixar's ellio was released in theaters and epically flopped. people got tired of stores like that.

one might think the film is not for them but that doesn't mean the film is trash. everyone likes reservoir dogs but when the violence started, which was at the very beginning lol, i stopped watching it. i didn't say the film was trash, i said it's not for me. like you said, the way she's speaking it's the same way people talk about kpop. literally all of my friends think i'm listening to music made for 12 yo kids. she should know better.

Why continue watching something you're not enjoying??? Just take the review with a grain of salt if the reviewer admits to not having finished the film, or completely disregard it. You're just assuming the worst.

She didn't start it, she answered a fans question about it. Someone asked her if she watched it and these were her replies. Yes, she did watch it. She just didn't finish it. And she explained why. And the fan asked more questions and gave more details about the movie. To which she responded.

Maybe she just doesn't care for those movies you listed? She may not like family films and/or films intended for kids. I interpreted her last message as something along the lines of "Oh, I checked the genre of the movie, and it's a kids movie". Because 1) it is a kids movie. It's listed as such on netflix. And I personally believe the implication was "I don't like kids movies". But that's just me assuming she had neutral or normal intentions, combined with the fact that in the past she has bluntly stated she doesn't like stuff like this.

I don't know what her intentions were, but nobody really does because we're not in her head. I think it's just not necessarily fair to assume she's trying to be mean, especially when conversing with a fan. And I don't think it's right for anyone to insult her and label her as a rude person based on this short interaction...

i think you're misunderstanding. i don't think she was saying she disliked it just because the genre was kids movie, but because the movie had childish aspects that are only found in kids movies.

i think there are many movies that are made for kids but don't have a lot of childish aspects in them. kpop demon hunters definitely had a lot of silly things in it that are really only found in kids movies, which i'm assuming is what she didn't like about it

that's true, but even if it's not the truth, i honestly don't see much of a problem with disliking something because it is made for kids. a lot of people hate stuff like that. and even if there are great kids movies, some people just hate that kind of stuff

But at the end of the day, it's hard to read tone over text. And it's human to make mistakes sometimes, or accidentally word things harsher than you meant to, or even be unintentionally rude. We all have moments were we could've said things differently and/or in a kinder way. Nobody is going to respond perfectly to things all the time, even with simple conversations. And making a determination of someone's character based on one conversation is really unfair.

There's nothing wrong with saying "It was the worst when the boys started posing in gat". She didn't find it funny, clearly. It's normal to over-exaggerate things we like and don't like. She is just talking casually, I talk like that to my friends, especially when I am talking about something I didn't like. Regardless, it is an opinion that she is allowed to have. I don't think it makes her an edgy, condescending person for her to hate the pose scene. Though, I personally found it to be hilarious.

I could never be an idol for reasons as simple as this. Everything I say could be taken so extremely and intensely, especially when I make a normal, human error while having a conversation. That's so stressful.

I know how to talk to my friends and they know how to talk to me, but thanks for the concern. We've been friends for a very long time, and will be friends for much longer.
