  • Their comeback this summer is going to be interesting to see. They were doing great across the globe and were selling out venues. There's been past boycotts outside of Asia and the groups seemed to survive due to having strong fanbase in Asia. I assume KIOF is strong in Korea and SEA but is that enough? They were on the path to be a top 5th gen group but I think that dream is done for them.

  • I won’t engage in arguments and I understand they’re your favs!

I wish them the best but they have ruined their own careers at least internationally :!: unless their company put them up to it which I doubt they did. I hope they’ve learned from this

It was a mistake and they got the well deserved backlash. BUT, I need y'all non-fans to stop acting like they have ruined their careers cuz they are still in demand in SK and that's not going to change.

Also internationally ≠ USA. KIOF still have their Thai fans and their Asian fans in general dgaf about this controversy. They will be fine.

I don't think you should tell users to F off just for saying they could possibly in trouble with non-asian markets. It's a valid concern when they had a lot of fans in those regions. Also, you don't know if users in this thread are/were fans of the group

I assume they will have SEA market and should be able to maintain Korean market. I am unsure if they were big in Japan and China, so maybe nothing to lose there. I think for a group you still want to have access to North America, Europe, and Latin America market and they might have lost that. That's a major concern for a group that was in position in being a top 5 5th gen group.

Their next comeback is the real test but I think they should be fine in SEA and Korea.

Lastly, the group had the advantage with 2 American members that are fluent in English, so losing that market is big imo.

If they’re so in demand in Korea then they don’t need USA so this decision and people commenting on it should be of no concern to you.

  • Not sure how accurate this is, but this is how the fandom breaks down. I'm sure losing one of the top 3 region hurts, but 8/10 region probably don't even realize what happened.

    RankCountry/Region
    1South Korea
    2Japan
    3United States
    4Taiwan
    5Thailand
    6Indonesia
    7Hong Kong
    8China
    9Philippines
    10United Kingdom
  • I'm surprised about this decision. As the scandal is recent I kinda see them totally focusing in Asia while giving time for the others fans and non fans to "forget" the issue.

They are charismatic on stage so they can (or not) overcome this situation.

  • Do you think after being in Kpop for so many years I would still be naive enough to believe that these ppl have genuine concerns? Don't make me laugh. They were all just waiting for a moment to hate on KIOF and this is not just about that aespa stan who I know just wanted to say something just for the sake of saying something but about the entire Kpop community.

And yes their next comeback is the real test and people should wait for that if they want to make stupid statements like they ruined their careers.

    :pepewhat::pepe-cringe:

Why should it be of no concern to me when ppl have spent this month and the last bullying them? And it's because of this unreasonable hate that they pulled out from this event cuz ppl were sending them death threats. I hope you realize that this isn't okay. They don't need USA but that doesn't mean they shouldn't perform there at all even if the opportunity arises.

The organization pulling out is completely valid and the consequence for their action. If they cannot be sensitive towards the people of the country they don’t need to perform in that country. It’s simple.

[instiz] KISS OF LIFE CANCELS THEIR KCON LA APPEARANCE

    original post: here

    1. Why??? Don't tell me it's because of that controversy...???

    2. Hul?

    3. What...?

    4. I think it is because of *that* but what's the nuance here?

    5. Hul was it that bad..?

    6. Huh? Are people in LA sensitive about rac*** against black people?

    7. But I feel like they deserve it. If a rac*** singer came to our country, there would be so many people opposing them. And they were kinda severely ra*** this time

    8. The public sentiment towards them is so bad right now

    9. Don't they have someone from California? Why did she do that?

    10. They should've apologized the moment the controversy came out, they waited for too long and it just grew way too big... They released it late, and even though it was well-written, they already made the fire grow. They really should've treated this issue better

Yes! I was waiting for KIOF to slip up to hate them :!:^^ this reads like fanfic!

I actually like KIOF and listen to their songs :/ I was only saying my opinion it’s not a fact. I don’t think 1 person has hated on them in this post or on AKP in general?

You don't get it, do you? Idgaf about them not performing at Kcon anymore. What angers me is the out of control hate that forced the organizers to make this decision.

I think they have done enough by apologizing twice. They have done more than the entire Kpop industry but if Black ppl don't want to forgive them that's totally fine with me but let's not act like that the outrage was coming from them and not from a loud minority on X aka ppl who never really cared about them and just want to see a rising group fail.

It’s not up to you to decide what’s enough. Hope this helps.

This was the correct thing to happen. Finally an actual real consequence. Now hopefully idols will think twice.

    Sure it ain't. That's why I used I.

And sorry to break it to you but idols still won't care. Cuz the only group that is actually held accountable is a 1 y/o old with no backing while the big company idols stay unaffected, never bothering to even say sorry.

  • It’s not up to you to decide what’s enough. Hope this helps.

Will they think twice? Seems like the ones that didn't apologize gets the least consequence.

In a perverse way, this just pushes idols and their companies to ignore the issue. What's the point of apologizing if it just magnifies the issue?

I’m just going to transparently say i HOPE their career is ruined.

Yall know better and fans who are like “i love KIOF regardless” like tell me your racist another way

By not doing it in the first place. When you know the consequence is not being invited on American shows and concerts ofc you’ll think twice and the company will also invest in media training.

This is also true for Americans that have been banned from many countries. It’s nothing new.
