Can a toxic fandom make you stop stanning a group?

No. BTS has a huge fandom and sure there are a lot of asshats and usually the idiots are the loudest. But there are quiet, sincere, good people in this fandom as well. I don’t participate in the negative shit because that is not how I want to spend my time in K-pop. You would be surprised how easy it is to ignore. Toxic fans are just faceless, nameless and want to bring you into their own hate and misery. My time is spent on enjoying rather than the ugliness

No. I'm still ARMY and support BTS.
Of course I had made the choice to be above the toxicity. AKP is the only online media I use to discuss and get news about KPOP. I can't stand Twitter/X/whatever they want to call themselves these days and deleted my account long ago. More importantly, I have IRL friends who are ARMY or even other KPOP group stans and they are as non-toxic as they come. Non toxic stans do exist. This is the choice I've made. I choose not to immerse myself in toxicity and take care not to fall victim to a vicious cycle that only tries to pull you into it to create yet another toxic personality. I wouldn't hang out with toxic people IRL, why would I do it online?
And newsflash, people dragging you for being a stan of whoever because "____ are toxic!" are indulging in the same toxic bullying. I don't know why people are under the impression that doing that makes them look anything but pathetic.
The anonimity the screen offers has sadly allowed an absence of repercussions for deplorable behavior towards fellow human beings. A little empathy would go a long way, but that's apparently asking too much.
Fighting y'all!

ummm...you can support a group for any reason
you can not support a group for any reason
it's literally freedom to do whatever the F you want
you no longer like the group's music - great you can unstan them
you think the group is old and has-beens? - great you can unstan them
if you don't like the fandom - great you can unstan them

I started listening to kpop when super junior was big and then I just stopped listening to music completely.
My friend kept trying to get me into BTS but I thought everyone surrounding them was nuts since I had never seen a single positive interaction between the fans online. I also didn't like any songs they kept hyping up so I didn't bother.
I've recently realised their rap line solos are good.

Same here. Their last song I listened to was not today. I like all their songs I loved then and that's it.
