Is BLACKPINK the first K-pop GROUP

  • Yessssssss and No...

No because Kpop expanded on mainstream not too long ago so 3rd gen and onwards has the most opportunity to utilize it.

Yes because it's not easy what BP members are doing... They might make it seem easy but it's commendable that they knew the backing they had from fans and jumped into waiting opportunities...

People can try and give their credit to anyone with a dick but you know they always showed massive potential and this is them doing everything they possibly can...

The girls could have just sat with kpop and YG because they were making pretty good money but they said NOOOOOO I can do so much more...

There are always better singers, dancers, performers but BP girls are superstars and will continue to succeed..

If anything there should be more appreciation on how the girls have launched their labels, poured in money and came out with so much content, and proving how blinks were absolutely right to defend these girls for years for lack of Content...

They could have sat, they said NO....

  • well BP the group is still under YG no?

As for their solo success, I would assume what they are doing is unprecedented in kpop. But isn't everything BP does unprecedented? They are pioneers, trailblazers, the best thing since sliced bread, etc. We shall never see another gg with members like BP where each is as big a star in their own right as the group itself. They simply transcend the average kpop gg

  • Yes and no bc Rosé is still with tbl, but the pinks were smart enough to start their own individual careers while BP is still fresh in people's mind, loved and having a huge fb.

For now they are still being supported by blinks as it should, but with how they are doing things I can see them maintaining a pretty good fb enough to tour ww in arenas and in Asia even in stadiums. I'm glad blinks weren't wrong in all those years complaining to YGE about the lack of music, bc even Jisoo already teased us about many songs that she'll release. It's a win win for the girls and us.

  • I remember saying that BP had the power to make and run their own labels and I was attacked for saying it. I'm glad I was right.

  • Their last upbeat Korean song was ages ago, for the past 2 years they've had only 2 Korean ballads that weren't released as stand-alone singles but dropped with the album which means their streams got split across tracks, so it's a skewed comparison.

No, you're still wrong tho, because the Blackpink brand is still big, and mainstream, and they only started their solo career this year, basically. Not to mention with the help of some of the biggest American labels!

They're not under YG anymore as soloists, but that doesn't mean they're nugus. Let's talk about this, 5 years after BP disband. Technically, they're still in their prime, because BP's hype started 3-4 years ago. I give them 4 more years, and you're gonna see they won't produce numbers like now. That's how the mainstream media works.

Also, when they actually start releasing music regularly, they won't top the charts anymore. Most people only tune in, because they release music in every leap year.😅

Well the girls proved you were spot on :yesr:

even when they were negotiating and we were getting so many rumored articles about this and that and then we were hella suprised they launched their own labels :lover1: They are so strong and intelligent for what they did and it seems Lisa and Jennie are taking the right steps so far and cant wait for Rosé and Jisoo next...

"Help" of American labels??? They aint doing charity... they are looking to promote and profit.

They have worked hard for years which is why they are where they are... and to not be nugus in future, say 4 years down the lane, they obv will have to put in more work which is what they are doing.

Yes they might not produce the same numbers as now which is exactly why Right this moment is the perfect time to do the most WHICH IS WHAT THEY ARE DOING BRUH

It's fine... they need to build their discography because touring is where the money is at... west might take more time but Asia is ready and Asia is where their homebase is... they will do so well...

  • So? They're still under massive American Labels, and they help to promote them. Just like YG did!

Why are you talking about "hard work"? This isn't about that, at all! Many other groups work so much harder, yet they're not half as popular as them. They got big thanks to their Seniors, YG and a massive LUCK, not just hard work!

99% of the nugu groups work 10 times harder than most BIG4 groups. People like you have to accept that mainstream groups are not mainstream because they work harder!

You know, the REAL hard work starts now, because managing your own company is not easy, at all. That's why Rose didn't start her own! She's probably the only member who's gonna have the longest career.

Trust me, every member of BP will be "nugus" eventually. In Kpop you won't be in the mainstream media for long. There are only a handful of exceptions, like Bigbang, 2NE1 or SNSD, and that's all basically.

You won't see them doing a concert in the next 2-3 years. Maybe Rose, because she's gonna release half of BP's disco soon. 😅 Jisoo is only an actress/model, I can't see her releasing more than 1 Single every year, let along EP's or a Full-Albums, like Rose. Lisa is basically a Monthly Single girl so far, and let's see how many songs will be included on Jennie's new album.

I'm hearing one of her song is self-composed, so that's a positive for me, even if it's gonna be garbage.

Did they make their own labels? Yes.

Are they signed to other labels? Yes.

Does it change the fact that they own their music copyrights and choose which direction they want to go to? No.

Basically, they are free to do whatever they want.

They will always be more relevant than Hwasa and MMM so there’s that.
