Seems like that agency is exclusively for them considering it's newly established.

Changed the title of the thread from “The former 3 FIFTY FIFTY members signed with IOK Company's new subsidary MASSIVE E&C” to “Former FIFTY FIFTY members Saena, Aran, and Sio signed with IOK Company's new subsidiary MASSIVE E&C”.
  • This was born out of necessity for both IOK gave up on Alice (the girls were probably done with the idol life/the group) They still have 2 of the Alice girls under contract I believe, maybe they can add all 5 into a group.

And the former 50/50 girls probably had very few top agencies willing to take a risk on them.

  • Releasing this news while FIFTY FIFTY is currently revealing their members is quite the way to generate headlines and clicks. You know it's going to generate engagement, especially with a debut by year-end and a the lawsuit actually making another court appearance soon.

I guess the question is who is this targeting? Are they going international, or are they focusing on the domestic crowd? What do these contracts look like? And didn't Saena, Aran, and Sio previously state that they wanted to quit the idol life? And now they're going to re-debut? Is it for money? What do these contracts look like?

The FIFTY FIFTY saga is definitely going to be one of the key moments of 2020s K-pop when you look back idol-company dynamics.

  • Got a not so nice update on IOK's current situation and its not looking good for the members.

Naver is reporting on Dispatches report on IOK. In summary:

    - Contract is for 5 years

    - IOK’s chairman Kim Taesung was sentenced last month for 2.6 years in prison for bribery and 1 year for violation of the political funds act. (He was apparently sending money to North Korea and it’s in relation of politician Lee Hwa-young : former Gyeonggi Province Peace Vice Governor)

    - Their music division is lead by singer “ The One” as executive director who is in trouble with his ex over missing child support

    - IOK has been losing money for 8 years now - “Looking at the performance of the past 3 years, it was -3 billion won (2020), -8.3 billion won (21), and -10.8 billion won (22). In 2023, it also had a deficit of 7.7 billion won.”

“IOK is covering its deficit with convertible bonds. Since 2007, it has issued 20 convertible bonds, 20 convertible bonds with warrants, 13 paid-in capital increases, and 1 bonus capital increase.”

  • makes sense...one would have to be really desperate to take a flyer on them.

  • Alice did not make a profit, all the members probably never got paid, maybe Sohee made a little money from endorsements.
