Kiss of Life's vocals are overrated ?

It's often a bit missleading and/or difficult to compare groups vocals because the songs can have a big variation how demanding and hard they are to sing. The little I have heard of Kiss of Life it's a bit slow and boring and more basic demands on their singing skills, a bit similiar to what New Jeans do. I would say songs like, The Boys from Girls' Generation (just to take something random) is a lot more demanding to sing. So it's easy to get the impression that group singing the slow boring stuff is good singers compared to other groups that sing a bit more hight tones and variation in their songs.

I only rate highly BM now, and maybe after a real real live, I may not.

imo it really makes no difference. BP and Twice are #1 and #2, and its not like their vocals are mega fantastic.

Imo their singing skills are indeed not that outstanding. They are just OK.

Still 2nd gen clears everyone in vocals and it’s not even close

I heard several times kiss of life singing, and it seems to me that they are also singing out of their range, since they have voice cracks, sing off key and off pitch and in different register than the supposed one. So nothing outstanding.

For babymonster I heard one time when they sing real live, and it’s nothing outstanding. Babymonster scream too much. If YG will continue like that they will for sure damage their vocal cords, especially Ahyeon. I hear them screaming even in their studio versions.

Will have to wait SMNGG and see what SM has prepared for us

I didn’t talk about aespa tho. Winter’s voice is sharp and piercing, and I don’t like her vocal tone, but she is a good vocalist. She doesn’t scream like Ahyeon, and she doesn’t try hard to reach those high notes like BM. Winter is like Lily from Nmixx, of course Lily is much better than Winter, but she has the same thin, sharp and piercing vocal tone, so I don’t like Lily’s vocal tone too. To be honest I don't really see what makes KIOF singing skills stand out compared to most of their peers. A lot of times they are out of their range and strain a lot.

You could put 99 percent of Kpop idols in the C- to C+ range. That's why proppping up your own faves or shading rival vocals is just plain nutso, y'all are all literally on the same tier, the difference between your faves and them is almost indistinguishable.

Only a few really stand out like mah girl Yuri, Karina, etc.

They're indeed a talented group!

More like underrated! People still call them nugus while beating BIG4 groups and charting on Billboard and in the TOP10 in every Kchart.

I'm not saying KIOF are the best vocal group. If I want to be fair, the only one in the group who has good range is probably Belle, but even she has flaws, but they're still young, and they will evolve, I'm sure of that, because smaller agencies actually teach their Idols to sing better, unlike some BIG4 agencies.

KIOF is not a vocal powerhouse group like Mamamoo, Big Mama, Davichi etc, and I think, Rami in Babymon is better than anyone in KIOF, but it's not easy to compare, because as Patrik said:

You can only compare vocals when they sing the same song, or at least they have bigger disco with multiple vocal heavy songs. KIOF is good, but I don't think they have any vocal heavy songs like Mamamoo's Decalcomanie for example. I don't think it's fair to criticize KIOF, people only do it now, because of their latest Music Show encore. Anyone who follow them even a little, they know they're good LIVE singers and performers! Since Sticky MV, many people attacking them because it's too sexy.

Also, this is a bit off-topic and nugu promoting, but this is what I call a real all-rounder and ACE. But I'm sure Knet and netizens in general will shade them too, because this is how these things work.

When KIOF first began to be noticed for their vocals by netizens it wasn't that people were praising any particular member for being a stellar vocalist, rather their choice to sing live at music shows and festivals more often than any other 4th gen group was doing at the time garnered them praise and attention

Good vocals and vocalists should always be praised and acknowledged, because it happens too little

Would be interesting to see some more of their vocal performances, usually new groups don't have many of those.
