Maybe bc people always say she looks japanese and she hears it a lot.

I mean this line has sense. Patrick is a star fish and dorky. Like yeah it’s dumb but it means something 😭
-

It's just her sort of cringe rap style. She's wants to say "hi" but it sounds like hai (yes) in Japanese

There is a theory floating around that it was a shade at LiSA.
-
i had assumed it was a reference to her speaking multiple languages
-
I think it just probably didn't fit the lyrics with Thai. They probably just needed fo rhyme with -ai sound and yes is hai in Japanese
-
-
-
Like is it a racism thing?
Is it the fact that she can speak many languages?
No like really what is it eye-
I thought it was because most people in the west only know Japan and China in Asia therefore think she’s japanese.

The issue is thr way western labels or media in general still view Asians.
Take for example, asian still have very poor representation in western media. Any time an Asian gets a role in a movie or show, they almost always play roles of them doing Asian things like karate, restaurant owner, nail shop, etc instead of just regular role but as an Asian.
In western media, east Asians is even rarer in music and anytime the western labels gets their hand on an Asian artist, they do the same thing they do in movies and shows.
Take for example, I grew up a fan of thus Asian underground rapper, Jin. When he gets sign with a western label, his first single was 'Learn Chinese' and you can probably already imagine what the lyrics are about, from Bruce Lee to building railroads to pork fried rice.
When Western labels sign asian acts, they don't have to sing and do 'Asian things'

Thought she was confused a lot as the LiSA???
this didn't cross my mind, there were indeed numerous times in which she was confused with the Japanese singer
-
It's just a line so cringe that it made my skin crawl.
-
I think you all are giving the lyricist too much credit lol. The line seems straight forward and simple minded.
I agreed. I heard she was filming in Thailand and featured some Thai celebrities? I think Thai fans would of love it if she uses Thai in her song. But she didn't write her song, so that issue is with her writers. Do they think she's Japanese? I don't even think they know who LiSA is.
-
Lisa should do a Genius video to explain the lyrics atp XD
I have seen two theories and they are the same as above: she is taking a dig at
getting confused with LiSA (japanese artist) or ppl calling her a japanese person because aLl AsIaNs LoOk ThE sAmE shiz
It could be either or just some random lyrics for rhyme but it looks too out of place to be put in a song so randomly.

I don’t think it’s this.
People assume you’re Chinese not Japanese. Like it’s not common for people to be assumed Japanese. It’s a very specific type of reference that doesn’t make much sense.

Yes this is what I found weird if this is the reference she’s going for.
Japanese people also get mistaken for Chinese. Anyway if she wanted this to be the message, choosing to rhyme with Japanese does not make the point.

I think the connection to LiSA makes a lot more sense
As in people don’t know Lisa and may assume she’s the Japanese LiSA but she’s actually a rockstar

Well saying chinese is always more risqué. You'd never know how fans and antis react. The ones complaining are mostly not even Japanese... Over analyzing is not going to lead anywhere esp when the song isn't even supposed to be deep.
Well its going to be fun if she ever tours and changes the country name and their greeting on this song each time...

She’s actually credited as a writer on the track if I’m not mistaken

It depends if they think you look cool or not. Any Asian = Chinese, any Asian that looks cool = japanese.

You are on fire with the gifs keep it going!!

someone asked her if she can teach them japanese and she said yes

There is a theory floating around that it was a shade at LiSA.
That's really low if true. She is her fucking senior and debuted way before her.
-
Lisa is a ball of cringe always has been.
Non black rappers are cringe 90% of the time, lets be honest.
-
Best line of the song and the only memorable thing about it (besides Lisa's unique vocal tone so catchy!).
I think it means both. It's shade at folks thinking all Asians are Japanese (or Chinese or now Korean). It's also flexing her language skills, she can speak Thai, English, Korean, and Japanese iirc.
-

This is the second time this "senior" nonsense has been used to shade idols.
Badguy used it to shade Yena for Hate Rodrigo even though Olivia has ZERO RELEVANCE to Korean seniority system, and now you're using it to shade Lisa even though the JPN Lisa is NOT A KPOP IDOL AND HAS FUCK ALL TO DO WITH KOREAN SENIORITY CULTURE.
