Honestly JYPE’s lack of competency stems from their greed to keep on debuting new groups and tap into different markets.

4 groups in the next year?? Why not focus on building your biggest money-maker Twice so they can keep growing rather than just leaving them be? We all know that Itzy’s best step would’ve been the Japanese market but JYP is on a mission to right the wrongs of Wonder Girls trying to break into America. NiziU is great, but rather than making a group in the exact same region as an existing group, Twice, and essentially making them direct competitors, why not build elsewhere??

JYP just keep getting debuting new groups, then just let them getting handle by their respective division. I'm not surprised if after the TWICE contract ended, some members or all of them will not extend their contract. Is there any JYP group that lasts more than 7 years and still stays at JYP? No.

I think Itzy and Stray Kids will be fine

But it seems JYP is debuting alot in a short period of time, I wouldn't be surprised if one gets halted or delayed.

Jyp has moved on from twice i feel. They want the new groups to step it up. The stepping stone is twice. Twice got jyp to this position but now they don't need them aside from money.

Cuz they realize they need the Twice money from their comebacks - cuz the amount they generate towers the other groups, I’m sorry but this is a fact

[spoiler]Their thought process is purely money and the security of it - which is fine as that's the purpose for most businesses and they're publicly listed but it's the ruthlessness and lack of loyalty which sucks. At some point you have exceptions/legacy acts and surely if anyone deserves it at JYPE it's Twice, who were still growing at that point. We've just seen them send off Got7, their 2nd biggest group for years and a big contributor, to an end where they didn't' even promote their final album at the company as they weren't re-signing.

The Suzy excuse isn't a thing tbh. Tzuyu was massive in their debut year and was already doing solo ads. Her name was pretty big so she was pushed as she blew up quicker than Twice did. So there was never a "Twice can't do solo stuff because of Miss A" as literally their first few months disprove that and it's just an easy reason people throw around. People also miss that Suzy was bigger than Miss A were ever going to be. Miss A never had a big fandom so they weren't big money makers but letting Suzy roam and become one of the biggest stars in the country got them more money (she had some of the biggest CF's around for years) and prestige than Miss A ever would have, and she singlehandedly was keeping the company running at some points. I feel some try and paint the Miss A situation as something JYPE wanted to avoid which is why Twice do nothing solo, when JYPE clearly actively pursued it as it was more profitable for them. Got7 have also done acting/OST's/solo music.

Twice do nothing solo for the exact same reason they let Suzy run solo and pretty much ditched Miss A, it's more profitable. Cheer Up blew the group up massively, most of us ITT were following kpop at the time so know but seeing Brave Girls now reminds me a bit of the time. Anyhow, the thing with Twice was they didn't just blow up digitally/with the GP (see Gfriend), but they attracted a massive fandom insanely quick off it. People forget that in 2016 (.e. a year into their debut and only their second comeback) Twice had the 5th best selling album of the year in TCL1 (350k sales), only two releases each from BTS/EXO releases were above them and the next GG on the list was IOI with "only" 75k.

Important to note that the company also weren't doing particularly well around Twice's debut, so Twice getting such a big fandom so quick was a godsend and they utilised it to the fullest. They didn't have time to plan for the long term or their solos as they needed that fandom money, and post-CU the group had become bigger than Tzuyu so she wasn't the most profitable avenue anymore (/flag incident). They had a GG with better selling power than their BG's already so after 2016 they just pumped out physicals left and right and really gave no thought to their long-term career. They needed money and Twice as a group were printing money, which is why they were massively overworked for most of their career. Big 3 privilege usually alleviates that but it wasn't the case for Twice as the company at the start were falling out of the big 3, they had to release.

A big issue with JYPE now as a fan of one of their groups is they still have no revenue diversification. SM, YG and and BH have investments in multiple big ticket ventures, whereas JYPE only has the idol business really, even less than that, only has idol groups really (soloists/actors have left, only 2pm who were made directors at the company stayed). They can't afford to do what YG and SM do with their groups as they don't have the resources/contacts, so it's more effort for them. SM literally produce popular variety shows like Doremi market and have fingers in pies everywhere in SK. YG have an incredibly successful acting department and have been fashion leaders in kpop/korea since the 2nd gen. It's easy for them to do solo work and takes less resourcing than it would a smaller company like JYPE.

If I'm a shareholder what JYPE are doing is perfect. They retain the highest profit margins in recent years by putting the least amount of money possible into Twice but still getting great returns so shareholders are getting great dividends. From a business standpoint Twice are a product 6 years into their life-cycle in an industry where groups usually have a very short-life span (7), girl groups even more so. Twice have an established fandom and the company itself doesn't have the resources/ability/money/know-how to grow them any further or to promote them individually, as to grow them further the company will have to invest more and that will eat into their margins/take money away from their newer ventures so they don't want to do that. They then become the cash cow of the business that you milk. Low effort promotions, rushed comebacks, merch every other month, photobooks that cost more than albums, throwaway compilation albums and repacks. You milk, get the cash in, throw it into the other groups that are earlier on in their lifecycle.

Those other groups are Stray Kids, Nizi and Itzy, whilst soon to be those million other groups they want to debut. At this point I feel they think Twice are too late to invest in solo as even if it's not best for the members/group future, it's the best route for the company. Twice on their decline make more money than 99% of GG's and everyone in JYPE, they can keep investing the bare minimum to get that. They don't have the momentum they once had so solo promotions will have to be more extensive than it would have needed to be 2/3 years ago. With renewal 18 months away and their need to prioritise their new groups it sort of leaves Twice nowhere outside of being a consistent cash maker that they don't need to pay much attention to.

Twice's timing was just shite. If they had their debut into this JYPE they would have had a better planned career rather than the 100mph one they had which was detrimental to them in the long-run but was perfect for the company really. You can see with Itzy how much slower they're taking it. Itzy are over two years old and have "only" had 4 comebacks. Twice had 7 Korean comebacks and a Japanese debut/comeback in the same time frame.

Twice were worked to exhaustion to get the company where they are now, but now that the company is bigger and can afford to debut all these groups/invest like they have in Stray Kids (Twice never got anywhere near their level of investment), Twice aren't worth the investment anymore and are far down their priorities list. Comical really.[/spoiler]

I actually read all those u wrote and i Agree to most points. I strongly disagree when peopke say JYP is the best company because obviously they are so selfish and has been milking onces in a very scary way. 5-6 releases a year.

I really can feel it when u said JYP is using profit generated by Twice and invest in newer groups like Stray kids and ITZY. It is just so obvious. At this juncture, twice is like the cash cow that JYP want to milk as much

On 26th Jul 2018 JYP promised Itzy's debut, japanese girl group and others to follow after. However since that day, Twice still manage 10 comebacks without counting repackage and Kura Kura:

Exactly. Twice is their biggest cash cow. Like I mentioned it's Twice's biggest purpose in jyp atm. They'll be milked till the end. Coming back 5 times a year is just being overworked. Jyp cares more for the newer groups and Twice is used for it. Where is the solo promo for a group reaching 6 years?

I agree and unfortunately it's already too late.

They are but i think most people are expecting some solo activities or release by them. Especially Jihyo and Nayeon. They have the potential but not sure why JYP is holding them back

Overworked? No, they arent. They are hard working for sure. 5 times a year is not a lot with proper schedule. Sometimes they sort it out pretty well but the other times, they werent.

Solo promo is coming soon, I know it should be earlier but Twice themselves are not in rush, it is just demand from fans and I totally understand them.

I agree for the most part - with all these new groups Debuting, I'm worried for the future - JYP has a history of just... forgetting about his other groups when new one comes along.

But I do think Twice will be fine.

i agree, it feels like twice has all the potential to go beyond the little kpop bubble, like BTS or BP, but JYP either doesn't know how or doesn't have the ambition to take them there

One thing I know for sure, is they'll get way more gigs in Japan and their prior experience in the K Pop genre will give them a leg up on the competition IMO.

Eyes Wide Open was their best album yet, it is frustrating that JYP doesn't seem to put as much effort into promoting them anymore.
