Probably because both involved was quick and ready to confirm, in some cases the ones involoved must "think on it" if they are ready to confirm their relationship.

I sometimes think it's because theres MORE evidence beyond what the media first publishes that is much more undeniable.

So it's better to get ahead of that by just admitting it rather than being called out.
