It can be for any reason: being it because they are sounding great live, or they seem to have fun, or because It was innovative, It was emotional or was somehow very important for their career.
My favorite Stray Kids' encore is the Thunderous one they invited BTOB for after both competing for #1. They became closer that year due to Kingdom and they've been friends since then. From time to time we have updates of members going out or/and traveling together.
So It was very cute and fun 
I didn't watched many live clips so IDK, my ulti group never did one so yeah ... and the Japanese groups I like who apeared on TV in Korea all got pushed to stand in the back doing nothing than staring akwardly (I do not even remember if NiziU did anything when they won as first non Korean artist) so yeah ...

2016 was my favorite Mamamoo's year Melting (especially) and Memory are pure excellence. It was the year I got into K-pop and their releases were some of I liked the most back then
