I know Cha Ewnwoo requested for one but Astro has always been Eunwoo and friends. So does it mean the idol is done with their main group? I'm trying to relate but can't because BTS has been so consistent in calling their fans ARMY even if you solo stan a member. They do not acknowledge solo fan culture and still prioritize the group.
Does an idol wanting a solo fandom name seperate from their group fandom name spells disbandment?

I mean L from Infinite calls his fans "Ove as well as Inspirit" (which is Infinite's fandom name) so it can be done. With Astro I dont' even know anymore. IIRC i even said why are they still a group? Sanha is releasing something, Jinjin was doing a musical, MJ is enlisted Rocky Left, Eunwoo is out there doing what Eunwoo does, idk Astro hasn't felt like a group in years.
-
Harry Styles basically did the exact thing in OP. He formed his own solo fandom name and we all know 1D is deader than dead (some members actually HATE each other LMAO)

Never understood the cha eunwoo hype

kinda related to this. but does like taeyeon have a solo fandom name? She's obviously in SNSD but idk if i ever heard of her solo fandom name if she has one. I think another member (I think tiffany?) has a fandom name called young ones (i remember this cause of the whole thing about MOAs originally being called that lol)

Cha eunwoo has a really big fanbase that aren’t Astro fans, so him having a name for his solo fandom makes sense. It might be a sign that he’s preparing to leave the group, but it doesn’t have to necessarily be anytime soon

Idk if it spells disbandment but if you are in a group and you ask for solo fandom name, its not a good look I guess because majority of your fans are from your group. Like imagine if a BTS member asked ARMYS for a seperate solo fandom name.
I would IMMEDIATELY think BTS are disbanding. Because many members waited 10+ years to release their solo albums because they lived by that "BTS or nothing" mantra all their musical careers and if one of them flipped the script, it's over.

Yes, Taeyeon has a fandom name, every SNSD member has.
Taeyeon – Taeganger
Jessica – GorJESS Spazzer
Hyoyeon – Hyohunnie
Yuri – Yurisistable
Tiffany – Fanytastic
Sooyoung – SooYoungster
Sunny – SunShiner
Yoona – YoonAddict
Seohyun – SeoMate

No, it doesn't have to do with disbandment. Most group members has their own fandom names, even if they're still together.
Here's a list I find for some groups and soloists.

Oh I'll think its definitely over if you asked me to call myself other than ARMY. Even during their solo activities, they always called the fan ARMYs. It will definitely be suspicious.

usually when you have solo debut you should have your own group of fans
-
Oh...

I mean for Eunwoo's case it sort of makes sense since he's also an actor now and not just an idol. For other idols when they debut solo they want to call their fans a different name, which doesn't really make sense to me, because if they're still in their group, then wouldn't their fans still be called their original fandom name?
-
yes

I would question the group's cohesiveness, at the very least. But my only experience is with BTS, TXT, and &TEAM and they're all very "all for one and one for all!" in mindset. I would certainly start worrying if any of them suddenly started talking about solo fandom names.
With &TEAM, each member does have solo fandom names since the members came from both I-land and &Audition but all members stopped acknowledging their fandoms as separate the moment the final lineup was formed. I recall K even saying something like, "My fans (Keiys), who are Luné now..."
There's a strong emphasis on OT9 and unity as Luné, just as BTS is OT7 and unity as ARMY.
So yeah, if they start calling us as separate names, there's for sure a problem within the group.

For some groups, apparently there are solo fandom names but its not usual I guess. It would only make sense if majority of your fans is not a fan of your group.

1000% is a signal of disbandment, blinks are just too dumb to get it.
-
You have to look at the overall picture tbh. People are mentioning groups that were still active that did this. But for groups that are inactive and the group is living on a dying contract with the members already focused on their own stuff, that’s definitely disbandment
