Unpopular opinion, probably, but it was better when Mnet was rigging the survivals

  • Honestly, I just think public isn't sometimes best at forming groups. Because they'd usually just vote based on visuals, personality, story but a group needs all the positions covered, vocalists, rappers, dancers.

Say whatever you want about Izone being rigged, but they had very good composition both visually and talent wise. Meanwhile, Kep1er is dealing with lots of infighting due to Huening who objectively shouldn't have made it. And when you have a divided fandom new fans are being turned off too. So hence the declining album sales, not the songs as popular opinion suggests. If the songs prevented albums from selling Nmixx wouldn't be selling any. Kep1er's decline has nothing to do with the song reception.

So that's fine, - make a survival group that doesn't have public voting then.

Cant have your cake and eat it too - if you want public voting, abide by the public votes. If you don't want to abide by public votes, don't have public voting.

Mnet could hare purely made P48 (or any produce) jury voted or mentor voted or expert voted only if they wanted to.

  • I disagree.

The members that got canned weren't any worse in the talent department than the ones who got added due to the PDs accepting bribes => let's not gaslight the issue here, it wasn't some rational decision of the people involved in the selecting process that were completely objective in rigging the ranking out of some noble motivation to have the best group possible. No, they got offered bribes by some companies to let their candidates join, regardles whether there were better, more suited and more talented candidates for the group or not.

It was bribery and corruption, nothing else.

As for the members that got canned: Gaeun had solid After School experience and had shown how talented she was, and the same applied to Chowon, who was considered a dark horse ace because of her surprising stellar talents, like her distinctive vocals as well as her stage presence.

Whether they'd have fit into the group would have simply been a matter of styling: it's not as if Lightsum haven't done Izone type concepts.

  • I disagree.

It’s a matter of opinion. Personally I don’t agree that Chowon or Kaeun would fit the group. Chowon is doing similar concept in her group, but it doesn’t hit. Karin also seems to mature for izone concept. It might be true that there were bribes, but at the same time it could be that they didn’t accept all bribes, just of the trainees they were okay with. There’s no way to really know

    People went to prison.

  • People went to prison.

I never denied it? There could’ve been more people who tried to bribe, maybe mnet didn’t accept every bribe. It’s not proof that they didn’t care about the line up imo

Yuri is the main vocal and there is a rumor that her votes were fake. Same with Chaewon who turned out to be one of the most popular.

Ofc it’s still bad that it happened and it’s good this came to light but it didn’t necessarily make the line up worse imo

It worked out in the end, in that the group had success and that the rigged members gained their own popularity.

But it worked out, not because the bribed PD's were some genius matchmakers that had found the ultimate formula and the rigged added members were the final elements to create the perfect group.

No, it worked out in spite of those PDs corruption based rigging, for which they got sentenced btw.

It also doesn't mean Izone was the ultimate best ever possible combination of people to create this group with the people available.

K-pop fans got familiar and attached to this version of Izone.

But it doesn't mean other combinations wouldn't have worked out as well, if not better.

And even if the rigging didn't necessarily make the line up worse, it doesn't mean the original set up wouldn't have made the line up work as equally good, if not better.

  • The rigging had little to nothing to do with how both groups turned out.

At the time with Produce 48, Produce still had strong brand power and a built in fanbase. Whatever lineup they result in, the group would've done the same even if they swap out Jo Yuri and Kim Chaewon with Chowon and Gaeun (the two most rumoured rigged in contestants). And with a concept and debut song already decided. People like to claim Chaewon and Yuri fit in the concept and how Chowon and Gaeun would not have, that's all bs and self-rationalisation. Like everyone else has said, this is the lineup people are familiar with and the only one you know. If Lee Chaeyeon didn't make the lineup, you all would've said she wouldn't have fit the concept because of her visuals. But as long as the lineup has the core members like Jang Wonyoung, Sakura or Minju, any other members would be fine in the background because those members are the face of the groups and represent the group's identity.

Rigging the lineup wouldn't have helped Kepler in any way, they had a rocky start with the show itself with all the different rules, trying to differentiate itself from the original Produce. There was a survival show fatigue with this essentially being season 5 of Produce 101, and the general public has completely turned away due to the rigging itself. Their sounds and concepts are hardly public friendly and any kind of member change done with rigging wouldn't help at all. Who can you put in this lineup from GP999 that would've helped the group? The other popular trainee was Yurina, but if even Xiaoting can get buried in this group, how far can another foreign member realistically take them?

  • ZB1 wasn't rigged and talent wise is by far the best Mnet group since IOI

For me it's Mnet's Japanese groups, but it was very bad when they started to cast the first group right when the scandal in Korea happend in 2019 and so a few international viewers got all mad for no reason at the Japanese show.

The Japanese show than stated they had nothing to do with this since the Japanese production team didn't even knew what had been going on in Korea plus most (not all) participants in Japan had been no trainees, no idols, not worked in the entertainment industry before (alto there had been some, but people played it down as "everyone on the Japanese Produce is having no experiences since they are students or office workers" , which is not true cause I can name at least 10 people who had worked in the entertainment industry before who atended the first season in Japan)

And even when season 2 started people who had no idea that there was a first season before were so dumb asking if they would just bluntly rigg the thing. So season 2 was announced in 2021 and instead of waiting that the show starts airing, people just said "Are they going ro rigg this?" wtf?

Now season 3 is run by a Korean team instead of a Japanese team and Produce sucks now since the Japanese team made it fun to watch compared to the Korean team that makes season 3 of Produce 101 Japan right now

Lol what is this revisionist nonsense.

Yes there were bribes. That's not in dispute. Yes it was so people would be rigged in (either indirectly with the best screen time or directly) and yes, we do REALLY know. It's literally a matter of law and fact.

As for Gaeun beind 'too mature', ahh yes that magical 1 year gap between Eunbi and Gauen where one's fine and the other's too mature.

Chowon was literally the best vocalist on the show.

Always funny to see people still with this line of absolute dribble years after the show ended. Honestly what colour is the sky in your world.

Do you even believe what you wrote?

  • No shit Ofcourse it was bribed. I never denied that.

too mature yes even the judges said cute concept don’t fit her as much, it’s not about age but what someone can pull off. Multiple things can be true at once. If you disagree, that means literally nothing, cause this is my opinion and I believe it. Cry about it
