They are trying to get that Western validation (and cash)

YG was always ahead of other companies in this.

I think this is obvious, BP are the role models and inspirations for all of 4th gen. Even Wonyoung, who practically never mentions other idol groups, will specifically mention Blackpink.

Facts.

Blackpink are role models to so many 4th gen idols because they are successful and they represent what a K-pop group with a lot of impact is. Plus, Blackpink includes a lot of English in their group songs as well as solo's, so I can imagine why 4th gen groups decided to follow the trend.

If you want western/worldwide success you have to sing in English. You can be successful singing in English in eastern markets too so it's easiest (and cheaper) to sing only in english.

Dua lipa would never be what she is today if she sang in albanian. It's English, English, English, which sucks for og kpop fans who prefer Korean lyrics but this is what globalisation does

I think it's because international fans remember English parts more easily from songs than those in Korean and also many want to enter to American music markets which are huge business and money, so they go away from their Korean roots and make music that appeal more to new generation of fans and original fans disappear due to that cuz that's not what the og's original supported but they earn more like this

I also interested on the usage of english as a song title.

Like if I scrolling through the newer group's discography, it actually feels weird to see a korean title (despite they are well, a korean artists)

This is just a random gaon editor superficial conclusion, most of the increase on english lyrics is because no girl group was making music almost entirely on english before like blackpink, born pink album couldn't chart on billboard wold album chart because billboard labeled it as an english album.

And yeah it is a bit frustrating, but for me it will be more frustrating if the artist themselves always mention the korean version of their song's title rather than the english one (I'm looking at you, izone)
