  • i guess you can`t think for yourself with the theme of the thread

maybe you don`t know but there are different kind of people in the world, with different colours, from white to black.

why do i think this looks like Mansplaining- oh because it looks like i have to talk down to someone. Yes sorry about that. But if you don`t know you might insult someone by saying "a person with dark skin looks bad" maybe i should talk down on you

Youre attacking him when you dont make sense at all and sound like a racist moron maybe stop while youre ahead

  • did you read what i wrote, or you are here just to defend your mate?

You wrote complete racist nonsense "If they want to be international artists they must play by international rules??" bullshit tf does that even mean? Learn when to close your mouth and use your head for once..

And who said anything about dark skin that you need to belittle people over it? Good grief

  • You wrote complete racist nonsense "oh if you're gonna be international you need to follow international standards" bullshit tf does that even mean? Learn when to close your mouth and use your head for once..

read again "maybe you don`t know but there are different kind of people in the world, with different colours, from white to black.

But if you don`t know you might insult someone by saying "a person with dark skin looks bad"

and i was refering TO THE TITLE, THAT SAID KOREANS DEFEND COLOURISM.

maybe you never seen idols laughing at one member cos his/her skin is a little bit darker, but i had, and it is not nice.

if a fan with dark skin watch it , that is even worse. So that make me racist?

did blackpink release a new album today?'s tweet - "#LALISA ACAB, aquí solo respetamos a la POLISA " - TrendsmapID BI****S

    OT4 BLINKS OR JAIL

  • Thats not what you implied at all when you quoted him and had to belittle him when your original statement made 0 sense and sounded pretty damn racist to me. they asked you what the hell you meant and you went on the attack. Defensive cause you sounded moronic?

Pretty sure we don't live under a rock so assuming we don't know skin tones exist is ignorant.

  • I believe that you should celebrate the skintone that you were naturally born with. If you are naturally pale, then absolutely embrace that. If you are darker skinned, then embrace that. There is beauty in both shades and every one in between. The issue is when the beauty standard pushes ppl to be something that they are not.

If you are not naturally pale but you are expected to be pale after debuting because of societal pressures, that's not right. Not only is it not right but it usually tends to make society discriminate against people who aren't pale (see: colorism)

  • No???

In Korea or even in some countries (I’d say everywhere tbh) looking pale or whiter than the average population is based on colorism.

While tanning is a just a beauty preference.

    Let’s not play dense

If you really want to get down to it, both preferences (when societal) generally stem from classism. Countries where most of the poor people work outside tend to prize pale skin, and countries where most of the poor people work inside tend to prize tan skin.

People like that is how problems, or even misunderstandings or just differences never get solved. When people go crazy the other side more often than not will just ignore you or out of spite harden their already existing prejudices if they had any this now forms them. Winning people over to your side never works this way even if you were totally 100% right about a subject. It's just human nature that if you act like a 🤡🤡 they will write you off.

Well i apologize for interfering but even i read it going wtf does that mean and to me it sounded like they were being racist but i realize now after sleeping they were just talking out of their ass, so i apologize for calling them racist, but i'm not going to apologize for calling them out on what sounds pretty idiotic.

Nor was I trying to defend you but me thinking the same thing as you and you didn't even say anything negative for them to belittle you bothered me.

No need to apologize you did nothing wrong and what you did is an example of someone being a good person. You saw something wrong and decided it should be addressed. What i was saying was how that person responded is how we end up in situations where nobody wins and nobody learns anything. Because when you attack the people you want to convince to like your ideas. All that does is make them hate you or dislike the idea you had even if it were reasonable as its just human nature. If you treat someone like trash usually out of spite they will do everything to prove you wrong even if you are correct. This is how you end up with Trumpism or other situations where people will deny facts and run on emotional ignorance.

This is Never how you win anyone to your side.

  • There's nothing inherently wrong with preferring fair skin as your beauty standard. However, the issue comes when you either consciously or subconsciously discriminate against darker-skinned people as a result of your preference. That's the point at which your preference becomes colorism.

If you're able to prefer fair skin in all its aesthetic glory while also treating darker-skinned people the same in any given situation, more power to you.

Many international fans tend to involve race in this, but Korean beauty standards have nothing to do with race at all. Koreans only judge Koreans by Korean standards. They don't apply that to foreigners. In fact, they acknowledge western beauty standards when looking at western people; it's a different set of criteria. Many times, I've also seen them praise tan skin on western people because they think it looks healthy. They just don't prefer it on themselves.

It's also exactly why they might appreciate western makeup from afar, but they'll stick to their Korean makeup because it suits their preference more.

  • As some body that comes form a country with colorime issues I have to say people in this country refuse to admit that there is something wrong with these standards and how much harm they bring to people and whenever someone from the said country point those issues they get accused of trying to bring the west ideas.

Colorism is colorism and it’s bad and it has nothing to do with the country’s culture

  • sus at best and likely propaganda

why is it titled "white washing" , when koreans - and other east asian countries such as japan , and maybe china and mongolia? have considered a whiter toned skin to be the hallmark of beauty since ancient times?

they're not casting non korean "white performers" in kpop groups.

is this person hijacking the term "white washing" and defining it as something else entirely to fit their narrative?

    seems like it .

also if you dont care what color tone blacks or whites have, why do you care so much about koreans preferring having whiter skin tone?

this is a weird narrative .

Edited once, last by lahel ().

  • it's very much rooted in culture and history much like my own - China

always remember that SK is a very homogenized society

historically people who had darker skin were looked down upon not because of any colourism per se but rather that the darker skinned people were field labourers and worked out in the sun thus darker skin - classism!!!

and the people who (could) stay indoors and afford products had lighter skin

the lighter skinned people treated the darker skinned people like shit not because of any colourism but because they weren't on their level!!!
