Will “diverse” K-pop groups like Blackswan ever become successful?

  • Blackswan has so much support on Twitter but no real success. Is it because of the bad music? Or Kpop stans won’t support non-Asian idols? Why don’t you support diverse groups?

  • For me, when it comes to Blackswan, they had music production quality issues. That changed for the better with “Cat & Mouse”.

Based on the diversity of the members, I think their agency should approach their music more as an international Pop group with K-Pop roots.

For example, “Cat & Mouse” sounds like it has potential for broader Pop appeal which, strategically, an excellent English version could serve.

  • What is kpop without Korean?

Anyway that's why no one should believe what happens in stan twitter. They are loud but most of them are just an empty can. Those 5050 supporters too are bullshit same goes with all support for BS from twitter. It's not real and only used to attacking others.

  • People think that diversity is a quality when it is just a characteristic , plus korea hate black people . No mather how beautiful or talented these black idol are , for these racists they will always be stained

  • A group with half of the members or more being non-ethnical east asians will probably have low chance being popular in kpop. That does not mean they could not find a way to be popular outside of the normal kpop audience.

  • I mean if they got a blasian artist with traditional beauty standards from the big 4 yeah they would be popular from a nugu company probably not and twitter is not reliable method of popularity

Also am not saying it is right but it is what is

  • Is Lexie not liked in Sweden?

I have noticed some Swedes saying that they are rooting for her in Dream Academy.

I was tryign to say that even though Lexie ended up in that group, that group would still not be that well-known in Sweden.

Even though maybe between some Swedish kpop fans.

Okay, I'm not making any sense.

  • Ahhh gotcha now

Your first post sounded like "If Lexie did get in the group, the group WONT be popular in Sweden"

  • if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around does it still make a sound?

if a nugu group releases a good song but no one listens to it, is it still a good song?

  • We'll know when a racially diverse group from a big company debuts.

We can't point to diversity as the reason for what we'd perceive as their lack of success. Let's not forget they're from a smaller company. I'd say that has more of an impact as to why they're nugu.

  • I do not know, but this song is a bop

  • Honestly, no. You could have a big company debut a racially diverse group and it would flop. The industry and the public are just way too racist still.

If Thai and Chinese idols get the amount of hate they do in Korea, imagine how it is for non-Asian idols. It's incredibly sad but it's the truth.

  • As much as I would love for them to be successful it's probably not gonna happen. Foreign idols still get treated badly yes its improved but still no. Also another diverse group that nobody talks about
