This accomplished boomer is makin' me change my mind about Butter, Seven and Cupid.

    I've posted about this guy before, he is literally ME when ranting about modern music. Of course he is 10000x more talented and smarter than me, his music knowledge and instrument playing are off the charts, guy's a genius. Y'all MUST browse some of his vids when you can.


    The funny thing is he echoes what i've said repeatedly about local pop music vs Kpop. He's no fanboy of any Kpop lol but he figured out the same thing i did - that Kpop actually still tries to make a REAL SONG, and not just a 2 minute sample or vamp that gets released as a "song" by local acts. He's very kind about it but it's clear he has the same complaints about modern pop as i do.


    But check out what he says about Butter, Seven, and Cupid. He calls them real songs, with excellent production values, and even expresses moments of joy and real interest when listening to them. Now if these songs can impress a boomer even older than me, then maybe it's time for me to revisit them. :pepe-shrug:

    I liked Cupid, gave it an 8 out of 10. Butter was a 6, and Seven is more like a 5.


    I'm only half serious of course, i wouldnt change my mind right away just cause someone else liked a song, but he is making me reexamine the songs.

    This is just a side note, but I love how "Seven" is actually an R&B song. There's a whole upbeat side to R&B that people don't often think of, but "Seven" is absolutely an example of one.


    It's kind of like how song of Red Velvet's faster, fun songs are still R&B.

    Considering what else was in the top 10 when he listened to Cupid, it would have come like Manna from Heaven. The highest praise was "it's an actual song" after listening to one trick reggaeton and afro-latin songs filling up the top 10.


    I've been watching Rick Beato's videos for a while. He does some really good rock history stuff (if that's your jam).


    So he'll do one of those every few months, and if Kpop song is high in the charts, guess you'll get his reaction.

    i watched one of the videos, and this was the fisrst time i was actually exposed to the explicit version of seven and like i thought it was just a cute song about love, not a dirty song about xxxxxxx and im sort of in shock at this jk , im actually scandalized :exit-pepe::exit-pepe::exit-pepe: not in a bad way or anything i cant get mad at jk cause he is so cute but like that is sorta filthy pepe-ooh

    Sorry i shoulda put a warning or something =O=O . Yeah the explicit version pulls no punches, but it's funny, i was expecting the boomer to react even just a little bit, and he didnt even flinch lol.

    if you like a song just like it and enjoy it - you don't need to seek validation from anybody else to enjoy said song

    and vice versa if you don't like a song there's no need to go above and beyond trying to somehow force yourself to enjoy it
