"Anecdote of me leaving the fandom after attending a fansign event

600K won to apply for the fansign
500K won for my bias' gift
300K won to buy clothes for the fansign
79K won for my nails since I have to show my hands
10K won because I had to buy earrings in a rush on the day of the fansign because I lost the back of my earring
30K won for drying my hair
16K won for taking the taxi to the fansign event

(T/N: OP spent around 1.15K USD in total)

F*ck, writing it down like this, I really spent a lot of money

Plus, I had to work on a national holiday to get a day off for the fansign

My bias knows my face. I get nervous and stutter whenever I'm in front of my bias. I also have compulsion to make sure I don't take too much time at the fansign.

I memorized everything I had to say like a script and said it one by one
    1. I told my bias about receiving a verification for my gift. I asked by bias about his thoughts on my outfit that day. He didn't even know it was a gift.
    Him: Ah really?

    2. I told him about something I did well externally
    Him: Ah really?

    3. I told him about something I did within the fandom
    Him: Ah really?

I memorized the script and after hearing my bias say "ah really?" 3 times in a row, I came down. No matter how I think about it, I don't think I could've done better than that.

    I started thinking
Was I hoping for too much?
    Did I do something wrong?

After seeing fancams from other fans, I thought "did I go down too fast?". Seems like it was my fault for not staying longer"

    original post: here

    1. I also left the fandom after attending a fansignㅋㅋㅋㅋ hearing "ah really?" 3 times in a row is oba, seriously... even I feel sad

    2. That's why I only fangirl frugally

    3. I also spent a lot on my fangirl life and all that's left are nothing but physical album that I need to filter in the trash and the recycling bin...

    4. That's why I don't go to fansigns

    5. I just fangirl lightly. I just watch their self-made contents on YT and fancams and listen to their songs. I don't spend any moneyㅋ

    6. Why would that person become an idol? If he wants to make a living, he should treat people like VIP. Even department store people do thatㅋ

    7. I'm begging you, please fangirl on K-pop idols frugallyㅠㅠ The more you spend, the less you have remaining

    8. So this is where the "ah really?" meme comes from ㅋㅋㅋ

    9. I also left the fandom after going to the fansignㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

    10. Being an idol is a job too and he's being at work there

  • That's why you have to be rich and have a slight screw loose to be a true fangirl.

Your expectations also need to be low, and you need to be satisfied with the bare minimum of attention (unless your bias is really nugu and needs every fan they can get).

I've seen some cute interactions for fansigns and fancalls, but at the end of the day, those interactions only last about 1 minute and you won't get much other than that.

  • I mean i have bulk bought to try for a video call thats maybe a couple hundred no way in hell will you catch me spending thousands to get into a video call or fan sign...I mean i understand she expected a bit more then just that little reply 3 times in a row so i give her that, he could have actually said a bit more, but maybe they didn't know how to respond? I wasn't there to really judge, but to leave the fandom over it?? Idk seems a bit drastic, maybe he didn't know how to respond, maybe it was an off day, a bad day, who knows...maybe it was how she approached things, there's a number of things that could have been going on but without being there to see it, we only get her POV...so i wouldn't be so judgemental over it but i just personally feel leaving the fandom is a bit drastic...aren't you there because you like them and their music?

  • There is fangirling and there is attention seeking. Its not the same.

I bought several albums for a friend so she could attend a fan call. it was her first time and she totally failed asking what she wanted to ask. lol. i will still do it again next comeback.^^

i think fan signs and video calls are done to give and show support to your faves and not geting attention and marriage proposals for themself.
