The Korean govt is trying to pressurize BTS into performing at k-pop jumboree concert

  • So fucking predictable. The incredible bad press SK has gotten over the unsafe, unsanitary, unprepared condition these young men have been subjected too by such shoddy, cheap ass planning by the organizers and now they need BTS to bail their asses out over this PR nightmare.

There are literally tons of KP artists available to do this concert. Call Them

  • Countries are pulling their scouts out of this international jamboree and sending them home early. SK needs to try and salvage this disaster

  • hhh how can they be audacious using bts as shield when this year's festa has proven that bts and hybe basically can organize a city-wide event really well while last year's busan world expo and this jamboree are disaster? i would rather not mention bts anywhere anymore out of embarrassment

  • Why can't they just call those classical musicians and athletes they gave exemption to. I mean those are the people who really brought pride and prestige to SK right? They are other kpop groups that are as big as BTS right? Why are they forcing BTS out of their hiatus everytime they fuck up?

  • With national embarrassment building over the World Scout Jamboree evacuations, a South Korean lawmaker has issued an SOS to supergroup BTS.

The K-pop megastars are currently on a hiatus with two members -- Jin and J-Hope -- performing their mandatory military service, and another member, SUGA, set to enlist shortly.

South Korea's military should give them a leave pass so they can briefly reunite and perform for the thousands of mostly teenagers from around the world left stranded by the jamboree fiasco, according to lawmaker Sung Il-jong.

"For these precious guests, it is necessary to fill the lack of schedule... with the power of Korean culture," Sung wrote on his Facebook page.

He asked Seoul's defence ministry to "take all necessary measures" to allow BTS to perform at a K-pop concert in Seoul on Friday for the scouts.

Doing so "would help elevate South Korea's national prestige."

Sung, also a member of the parliament's national defence committee, said the jamboree had "tarnished our country's reputation due to inadequate preparation and poor management".

The defence ministry told AFP that it had "nothing to comment" on Sung's request.

About 43,000 people had gathered on South Korea's coast last week for the World Scouts Jamboree.

But it was plagued by problems, initially with a heatwave that led to mass sunstroke casualties. Poor sanitation was another problem.

An approaching typhoon led organisers to scrap the campsite proceedings completely this week.

Thousands of students were being evacuated to Seoul and other parts of the country on Tuesday.

Even before the typhoon warning, Korean media had called the jamboree "a national disgrace".

But Sung's request prompted angry responses from some BTS fans online.

"Please don't use BTS to cover yourselves up!" one wrote on Twitter, which is now being rebranded to X.

"Isn't it absurd that (the South Korean authorities) are putting the responsibility on BTS to clean up the mess they produced -- by not adequately preparing for the Jamboree?" wrote another.

    Story

Isn’t the world expo vote/selection also very soon?

  • :pepe-shame:

Ok, I can answer my own question above: they have no shame.

Seems like negotiation is still on-going.

  • Ah the usual political clowns 🤡😂😂😂😂 yeah not going to happen. Are BTS part of the military band? Noo lol then good luck getting them to perform jack shit 😂😂. The reasons these assholes are calling for BTS is because they are serving, they know they can't say anything to say Exo, seventeen etc because none of them are in the military (besides Kai) you can't "make" a request of a civilian. But these clowns knowing atlest 3 members of bts is basically serving already and thinking well they are the biggest names, lets use em. Wrong the military is NOT the puppet of politicians they can only be used for official business and that only at the order of the president.

The only way BTS will be at that jamboree shitshow is if everyone at the event got sick and the local emergency services requested assistance, then the government can declare the situation a disaster response which allows the military to be used for things like search and rescue, medical response and disaster relief. NOT CONCERTS 🤡 the only way BTS do a concert is if they are members of the military band and the band is making a performance at that event and jin and hobbie aren't soooooo lol.

Also having BTS perform at the event doing their music etc will be against the law, these politicians are shit heads. Because soldiers are not allowed to work for their own individual profit while on duty. Having them come with all 7 members military and civilian members to do their own music would mean the members as well as hybe has to get paid for it.

Well BTS had to perform for the world expo bid before any of them was in the military, I don’t think that some BTS members are in the military now is the reason. If you remember BTS and Hybe also rescued the Busan committee by basically redoing all plans themselves (it was a free concert paid by BTS and Hybe).

Obviously the government don’t think Exo or seventeen or any other group is capable of “rescuing national prestige” like BTS. Simples.

This is such a mess, that thread said music bank got cancelled and turn this concert as alternative and basically got newjeans and itzy because of this, and they ask their development banks for overtime volunteers for this concert :skull: :skull: such cheapos

Everything seems to be pulled at whims like hello?? This is global event??? And to think hybe still entertain the ministry of culture after all this time???

  • The Korean Govt is incompetent as hell. Imagine after the fiasco of the Busan concert they would have learned something. But noooo, let's just mess up royally on a global scale again and then force BTS to perform. Before they went to their parents, now what? How low they gonna get?

Why not just go to the other classical singers, kpop acts, next BTSses, and sportsmen who were the supposed true representatives of Korean culture and success? Why are BTS members needed now?

"Overspending on my pens, that are more in number... than your fans" - Suga.

  • This basically describes SK government whenever they fvcked up!

Well them doing that was because they wanted to. I highly doubt hybe could have forced them to do that plus the government couldn't make them do it either

  • If they are negotiating then negotiate this. Knock off 5 months of military service for each BTS member for saving what little reputation SK has left after forcing 43,000 scouts into a field with no shade and less than 20 toilets

  • idk how it works but if Hybe is negotiating from a position of strength the shortening of their military service as WhyKnock suggested yesterday, this could be a good thing for army, no?

fvck no. BTS would never agree to this. Same reason they didn't want that exemption. If they agree to this, the gov will have their hands on BTS for the rest of their careers. BTS aren't that stupid.

  • Let’s face it, until some other entertainer(s) become as big and important as BTS, they will be tied to SK and their shitty government. The Busan Concert could have turned into a huge disaster but BH stepped and moved it from the deserted glass factory site with one road going into the grounds. The concert was a huge success

  • Hybe should stay the F away from this disaster.

  • Where are SK's "national treasures" since apparently, BTS has lost it's influence and it already spiralling down.

There are a few groups that pop up in my head but need no mentions. I wonder why those so called GP Darlings of SK and proclaimed international icons by their stans aren't being called upon to elevate the country's prestige.
