Will NewJeans be able to counter BTS in 2025/26?

  • The Fifty Fifty crisis probably made Min Heejin to reassess the situation, and it even has an anti-cupid song in its new album.

IT has made a transition to appeal to the world, and with 2 native speakers of English (albeit with Australian accents, which jennifer Huh of LeSserafim made fun of), it has largely shed 250 and is aiming for the world.

With the likely transformation of BlackPink to become something different from what we know now, NewJeans will probably have no opponents now. Min Heejin was wise enough to make Lee Jieun, the ex owner of Edam Entertainment who menaced so many acts including aespa and Ive, to not f*ck around when NewJeans is in town.

The only question remaining is whether NJ will be able to check BTS when the latter returns in 2025 , or more likely, 2026.

I have always been critical about BTS' return. It would be more whimper than bang, since tastes do move on and the ethos in 2026 would be vastly different from what we have now given the world is heading towards more instability.

Plus, BTS' miligary experience will not be helpful. If anything they will be more 'serious' and no longer have the youthful image, and the people who are 30 or older in most countries are not their targets.

NewJeans does have a member who does not look like an Asian, which opens more doors, and with the change strategy she and PhamNgocHan would lead their dash to the world. I don't know whether they can fill a stadium in korea, but they will probably do so at least in Australia.

3 years is a long time and I do think that Min Heejin would gain more power in the Hybe organization and will probably lead NJ to a fight against BTS in 2026, since if she wins she will effectively get to control Hybe.

Fifty Fifty almost ended NewJeans and everyone in the 4th Gen, but now it is irrelevant at least in Korea (I am not that negative about its final fate, but it will cease to matter in Korea at least) a huge fight between NJ and BTS is now not avoidable given JK had challenged NJ but failed to defeat it.

  • I thought it was possible but after seeing Jungkook blow up with his solo debut, I'm having my doubts. I feel like BTS is still growing popular internationally and have potential to outdo their previous hits once they comeback. Btw 2025 is just 2 years away. NJ will potentailly be the top 2/3 kpop group by then.

  • None of us knew NJ existed a year ago (literally one year ago and a few days before they changed the world with their sudden arrival!) It's hard to predict if another NJ is waiting in the wings between now and 2025 but based on what we can know right now, I feel pretty confident they'll be the top GG in the world by then. I still think BTS is in a world and tier of their own.

This is a very good answer. Also who knows what will happen in the future. After covid I like to predict nothing :skull:

  • JK alone is giving them a run for their money on kcharts (where its their strongest point) and 5x times their numbers on spotify, imagine bts as a full group in 2025 :skull:

But other members didn't have JK level of success. JK alone seems to be almost as successful as whole bts :woow:

But anyway, to answer OP, let's not predict anything. By 2025 bts and nj can both disband, IU can end up in jail and canceled.

If this year has taught me anything is that expect unexpected, maybe expect my debut in 2025. Really expect unexpected :ooo-bee:

    nah

JK is competing with the top 5 Western artists

Melon shows NJ above JK now

Will spare words on BTS. NJ is unlikely to disband since it is not going to do a Fifty Fifty.

And the Strange Creature, even if she is in a spaceship, will order her underlings to release her unreleased songs so she can menace KPop wherever she might be at.

Well, that strange creature may decide to get married and have a baby.

Will she still rule kpop in Korea by then?

The creature already went thru 2 scandals and is in the midst of 3rd but the Ueana numbers actually increased

She will do a concert with her baby in tow and it will still fill the Chamshil because it is too late to wake up the Koreans.

That aside, I think NJ should do a stadium concert asap to cement its position and relevancy

You think nj can do stadium tours now?

maybe they can pull it off if casual gp attends? but I still doubt.

In a year or two prolly.
