  • Hotel Del Luna (Korean: 호텔 델루나) is a dark fantasy and romcom series, starring Lee Ji-eun and Yeo Jin-goo. It aired on tvN from July 13 to September 1, 2019 for 16 episodes. Written by the Hong Sisters and directed by Oh Choong-hwan, the series was a smashing hit as it ranked among the highest rated dramas in cable history.

    I. Synopsis


    Hotel Del Luna revolves around a peculiar hotel; a supernatural place which is not visible to everyone. The staff and clients are ghosts, whose souls are still roaming around because they have to work out some unfinished business on earth before they could cross over to the other side.


    Jang Man-wol, played by Lee Ji-eun, the owner of the hotel, makes a deal with the father of Koo Chan-sung (Yeo Jin-goo) to have his son work for her in exchange of granting him life and money. Having no idea of the deal or what it entails, Chan-sung returns to Korea 20 years later and ends up fulfilling the agreement by becoming the manager of Hotel Del Luna.


    All the mysteries and secrets behind the place unfold one by one as the story goes on.

    Viewership


    The series was the most viewed drama of 2019 on tvN with average ratings of 8%. The last episode had the highest rating of 12% nationwide.



    Adaptations


    Due to its success, several remakes of Hotel Del Luna were announced. A US remake, a Philippine remake and a Korean musical are scheduled to release in 2022.
