Did JYPE first popularize the concepts of foreign idols in kpop groups?

As overall yes, they used to have the most variety of idols' nationality under their company. They have first sea idols, first japanese line and Somi popularity definitely has impact towards more biracial idols in kpop.
It's so interesting to know that all their 4th gen groups noa are all Korean. What stop them from getting another powerful j-line?

I was so shocked to learn that nmixx is all koreans because all previous JYP groups have at least 1 foreign member
Edit:for ITZY, it was last minute change after SOMI left JYP

If you count Somi as foreigners, then you must count Lily in too. She's Korean/Australian like Bang Chan and Felix.

JYP debuted Nizui in 2020, an all Japanese group.
SM had Victoria and all of the China EXO line, and WJSN their Chinese members. All of these them are drama/movie stars in China now.

Japanese line in kpop not a Japanese group.

Not really, i would say SM considering that they did it since the 1st gen and since this they have been very consistent with always putting foreigner members in their groups :
- S.E.S Shoo real name is Shu kunimitsu, she's born in Japan and she's mixed Korean-Japanese
- Brian joo from the duet Fly to the sky was born and raised in the US
- Super junior had Hangeng who's chinese
- SM debuted Isak N Jiyeon, a rnb duet and Isak was actually German
- Rose from TRAXX is Japanese-korean
- Stephanie from CSJH The grace is an American-Korean
- Zhang Liyin is a chinese singer that SM promoted in Korea and China
and then we all know the other foreigner idols they debuted like Henry & Zhoumi, Victoria, amber, EXO chinese members etc....

^ Hangeng and Henry as mentioned by SooYoung were/are also movie/drama stars in China.
yeah
but actually Henry is still promoting in Korea too in the same time but mostly on variety show

Yes I guess true Sm had "foreign" idols but they never were truly foreign most of them are Korean-born in the US except for the Chinese members also Sm never treated their Chinese members the same way they treat their Korean members Jyp went all in promoting the foreign members like the Korean one I mean Nikhun was literally known as the Tai prince and had a lot of gigs and cfs in Korea

Somi is half Korean just saying wouldn't include her as a foreigner considering that she was raised in Korea
Etnic-wise, she is half caucasian, which makes her an interesting discussion in this thread
