Why are kpopies still saying that YouTube is dead and no one cares for YouTube views?

Youtube might be dead outside Korea but it's gaining lotsa market share in Korea. Korean news always talks about YT views when discussing idol charting.

YT is one of the metrics along Spotify, Apple Music. YT music is real lol

You do have a point for Babymonster's videos. I don't think they are running those as ads, yet I still find it weird that the views on their live performances are so similar, rather than a significant drop in views after the first 1 or 2 cover videos.

It is because you can mass bot youtube views.

The viewers / fans havent develop a preference yet. Once thety decided on their bias, will see the difference in views.

Also, YG kinda spaced it out well. Each introduction video is given few days to grow its views before the next

Yeah I noticed that the first one was already a month ago. Haram 1 month ago, 14.05 M views, Ruka 8 days ago, 9.6M views. After another month passes, they will probably both increase by a bit.

But, I thought it would be more like Ruka - 2 or 3 million views compared to Haram - 10 million or something. A ratio of newest:oldest, 1:4 rather than 1:2. I can't imagine that 9 or 10 million of people have already watched that video.

Here's 3 hard realities for a lot of Kpop ifans:

1. Melon is dying

2. YouTube Music is replacing it in Korea

3. Koreans aren't flocking to Spotify and is actually quite a failure there.

Does anyone know why YT music is used more than Spotify in Korea?

I do think youtube views are still important for charts and all, but i don't think it is a good metric for measuring popularity for songs/singers specifically.

YouTube views for music videos also depends upon their rewatch value. Longer 5 min mvs doesn't have more views and also mv aesthetics plays important part in it.
