If BP renews, can we assume they are satisfied with their treatment and level of activity at YG?
-
-
Blinks who want more music want them to ditch YG. Also, the ones who are salty about opportunities YG has rejected and who aren't satisfied with YG's promotions of each individual member.
There seems to be some people who want them to stay at YG, not sure what their motive is for that.
And, I think your OP question would only prove true if they stayed with YG and things stayed the same. They could rework their contracts to have more frequent comebacks, but if they stayed and did not do that, then sure.

group renew with better terms not the same or less

What fans think is "mistreatment" is not actually what you'd categorize as employee mistreatment.
Not getting comebacks at the frequency you want is not mistreatment and BP may not want that either.
YG has helped them build their individual brands and I think that's important to them.
Historically YG is well known within the Korean entertainment industry for having the most artist-friendly contracts in the industry and the artists get the larger portion of the sales.
Plus not every company has the enormous resources, connections and the army of staff at their disposal like YG does.
Plus YG's building and facilities are the best and most expensive in Korea among entertainment companies. And that stuff matters because that is where they spend a lot of time.
And some fans don't realize or take the members' feelings into consideration. Some of the YG staff they've known for literally half their lives. They've built personal relationships with them whether the fans like or care about that are not.
Fans aren't taking the members' feelings into consideration when they scream about mistreatment.
It's their money. Their careers. Their lives.
It's none of our business and we shouldn't have our hand in their pocketbooks. It has nothing to do with us and we should have no opinion.
-
group renew with better terms not the same or less
yeah people thinking they are not gonna negotiate for better contracts it's funny to me
-
-
we can assume they negociated for better contracts
-
Imagine they negotiate to release what they want when they want

That's true, we would need to watch and see if there were changes

And if the better terms were more money but not more cbs?

True,, like GD pbly could go anywhere he likes not he chooses to stay with YG. He says their his family. Ofc he also gets a ton of creative freedom so we'll see if the pinks negotiate that
And you're right. They might not think they're mistreated

They renew and we get more music peeps
Renewing for them isn’t just about the music. They made it clear they love the people they work with, plus bp have such good relationship with Teddy I can’t see them leaving
More music peeps?
-
yeah people thinking they are not gonna negotiate for better contracts it's funny to me
It depends on what they negotiate to do. What if they don't end up having more frequent cbs?
-
we can assume they negociated for better contracts
Nighty! You're still here!
-
-
Imagine they negotiate to release what they want when they want
This. I'm going to assume that what happens after renewal is what they want. They have the power to push for that control
-
-
I'd actually love to see what they are like under different production teams honestly. Change it up a bit
-
With which group?

Be careful what you wish for. Sometimes a change isn't what fans or public want. We saw what happened with Twice and RV have a huge yo-yo swings with different releases.
-
Exactly. BLACKPINK is BLACKPINK because of the members + YG.
Plus they joke Teddy and Vince are the 5th and 6th members
They're not going anywhere.
Plus YG owns the BLACKPINK name, trademarks and songs.
-
They might be able to negotiate taking the name and songs with them. But yeah, the girls might decide Teddy is too integral to their sound

I guess they could but it would get expensive for them because YG could get a portion of all future royalties and performance fees. It wouldn't be worth it at that point.
YG still owns iKON's trademark and songs but has agreed to continue to let them use it without YG asking for anything in return.
But that's a special case.
-
And if the better terms were more money but not more cbs?
idk how it will go but bp wouldnt be the first group that stay with yg
bb did 2 times, winner and akmu are staying for 5 years so smth must come from it
groups that left or were disbanded pass thru severe scandals, like bom smuggle controversy or bi drug scandal
-
I seriously don't understand when people say Bp is mistreated, the 4 girls name holds huge power by themselves they're more relevant than any other group not too many companies would boost their idols this much and if you're talking about music who told you the girls want to release songs frequently ? If the ones that wants to promote musicly they will probably start to release more solo songs after the contract negotiations
-
Yeah, typically if YG wants to keep you they will.
That's why you've never seen artists sue them to get out of contracts like SM, when they kept getting sued for "slave contracts."
Normally you don't see artists that want to leave YG. There are some special cases, but for the most part artists that left YG is because YG didn't want to keep them.
These are all unique cases, but YG decided not to renew with:
Bom
B.I
Daesang
Taehyun was a special case. He wanted to stay in WINNER/YG but he was having anxiety attacks and YG and his parents convinced him to mutually break the contract due to his mental health. And yes, he did have musical differences with the other members of WINNER.
Dara and CL signed 2 renewals with YG even after YG decided to not renew with Minzy and Bom when the initial 2NE1 contract expired.
However, CL wanted to leave in the middle of her 3rd contract with YG, and YG easily granted it. They didn't have to let her out.
Same with T.O.P and Bang Yedam. YG allowed them out of their contracts even though they legally didn't have to. T.O.P had just signed a new contract the year prior.
Yedam was just 2 years into a 7 year contract and YG let him out. YG let Mashiho out of his contract due to his health.
And as much as I love Daesang and IKON, I've been to many of their concerts and will always support them...I don't think YG wanted to renew with them.
So the bottom line, YG will keep you if they want.

There was talk that the members would get a $16mil signing bonus each if they re-signed with YG. Not sure if that is true, but damn! Also, there was a rumor that Lisa would get $81 mil from some company for doing work in Asia if she left YG.
I think it's easy to leave a big 4 label if you've already made money for them over the years.

Amen! Blue2012 spitting facts, and I actually enjoy reading his/her comments.

Damn, i can't even imagine being lured away with that type of money. I mean that's FU money. She could do anything she wanted after that

None of that is true.
Have we heard any confirmed news?

group renew with better terms not the same or less
And if they renew and have the same comeback cadence then can we assume they’re satisfied? Tbh I think they’ll be negotiating how much money they’re making etc their release schedule is dependent on Teddy I personally don’t think it’s gonna be impacted much. Unless “not working with other producers” etc was part of BP original contract
-
YG groups have always had low release schedule. Bigbang renewed in between as well and they didn’t then start to have three comebacks a year after that lol. I don’t think BP will suddenly start coming back often.
I think what’ll happen is they’ll negotiate better returns on the money they’re making from tours brand deals etc and imagine them making even more money than they are now. Why would anyone leave.

The source that was coming from was 1 article from Naver and that article admitted that industry insiders and financial experts are stating the renewal is going smoothly and BLACKPINK will renew.
My thread has a bunch articles with sources backing that up.
The one that poster was referencing said it was from an unreliable outlet quoting "overseas rumors."
No but I remember soshixbang from Oneh*llyu before it died and I thoroughly enjoyed his/her posts. There were a lot of good ones there.
I wish lizvip would come back too though.

Omg, i was just thinking about lizvip. Piggy too. I wish they would come back as well
So, the buyout rumors aren't true. Sounds like the renewal will happen then. When is their contract up?
