I think the asset of making your own music is that you don't have to wait for your company to come with new songs. You make them yourself. So yes, I think it can result in more releases. But it also depends on the level of success the group meets. If they flop, the company is not necessarily gonna fund every new song the group produces.

Like YG. Big Bang self produces, but 2011-2016, they really didn't put out that many albums, though they did promote a relatively large percentage of the songs off the few albums they did have.
But then you have JYP. Looking at Twice, in a similar 5 year window that's not including their first couple years, they put out 5x the content Big Bang did.

It's gotta be hard to keep up that level or creativity and work especially for long periods. That's pbly why some start working with outside writers even if they self produce as well.
Good question, as i personally haven't paid attention. What I noticed is that Ateez has been crazy this year, and hongjoong and mingi write their own verses and some of their music. If they aren't burned out I guess it's possible to release a ton of content. It's worrying for sure. I know some groups who DO and CAN write all their own stuff but still aren't getting much comebacks, examle: e'last. so they put their personal stuff on soundcloud.
Let's see... Looking comparably at only minis or full albums, Korean focused, not including things like "LIVE at [place]!" albums:
GOT7 is slightly lower than TWICE. I did 2016-2021 for them since they left JYPE this year, and they have 11 albums vs. TWICE's 15. And I had to do SKZ's entire career, since they debuted in 2017, so it's not exactly comparable, and they also had 11.
Still an enormous output! No wonder it always feels like JYPE's groups are releasing things. Heck, XH just reached their one year anniversary and they've already put out two albums. Entire career-wise, Itzy has 8, and Day6 has 10, which is kind of impressive with them losing two members and doing military service sometime in there. NMixx is kind of the odd one out with only singles.
