Is It just me or Cheshire's promotions felt so short?

  • well they were short

    but i think it's comprehensiblee

During promotions agency need to pay for their group to appear on music show, for makeup team, stage outfit etc... it's a lot of money pour in it

music show are mostly here to help the song have more exposure and improve charting, considering how poorly the song did in the chart, it might not bee surprising that JYP didn't want to continue to put money on promotion when it wasn't helping the song in digital

and the girls doesn't need promotion on music show to sell album

  • It's a bad time of year cause most of the music shows are going on hiatus or preparing special episodes.

  • Oh no it is really short, not even 2 weeks if I can count

Don't they do all their music show promotions within the next week after the comeback?

I counted, they went on MusicBank twice, MusicCore once and SBS. They also performed it at MAMA. :eyes: And then dance practices/videos, etc. are posted the same week. And groups don't usually perform on music shows everyday.

  • I don't think It has anything to do with digital performance. For example, It's not like Loco was a big domestic hit or showing amazing results through promotions and they performed on music shows for 3 weeks and extended it for 1 more with Swipe that was far from being a hit as well.

Just recently, Stray Kids performed 'Case 143' for 3 weeks too and It's not like they are doing much better domestically. On top of that, they are ITZY seniors.

It doesn't seem a path for JYP to "the bigger the song is, the more they will promote". I suppose people's theory that It is the end of the year, there isn't many music shows broadcasting and they probably have to have their time to prepare their own year-end stages seem more correct.

    i don't think

Well it's usually normal for some GG to sometimes try to extend their promotion for a week when they released a mv for a bside so it's not surprising

and for Loco, i think it's very different, Loco was in the 30s on melon top 100 so it's not like it was flopping and loco even climb thanks to the performance that's why they got 3 weeks like all their other promotions

and it's not a critics i mean even aespa stop promoting Girls when they saw it wasn't helping the song to climb more and switch to promote Goblin who was becoming hotter

In ITZY's case they did extend for a 4th week with their promotions even when they didn't release a MV for it, with 'Sorry Not Sorry', for example. And again, It was not a hit b-side either. Still, JYP spent money in outfits, stages, dancers, flags and the whole stuff.

I won't discuss about Girls, cause the only group I follow closely in SM is EXO and their promotions on music shows never depended on how well It was doing or not in the charts, but If you are saying about aespa, I believe. Lol.

But since I follow more groups in JYP I can tell It doesn't seem a path to spend more money in promotions depending on how well a song is doing.

Sneakers was the biggest song they had in a while and It started hitting Top 5 in all charts when they were finishing promotions in late july and they didn't extend anything. They finished 3 weeks like it was planned in their schedules.

  • Red Velvet released their song two days earlier and are also ending promotions. Has nothing to do with how the song performed, this is just the new normal. No one promotes as much as they used to. :|

Quarkie explained why some posts above :

It's a bad time of year cause most of the music shows are going on hiatus or preparing special episodes.

it had been said before the start of promotions for ITZY, as for Red Velvet

That's not it. Every group I follow has been promoting for only two weeks, no matter when their song was released. RV have promoted their last THREE comebacks for only two weeks each (or at least that was the plan for FMR.)

  • I think Feel My Rhythm was even worse and only had one week, right? Because of covid.

Yeah, they only got three or four performances in, but they had already said it was the last week of promotions, so they definitely planned for only two. Most groups seem to be doing the same. It also feels like a lot of groups go on less shows per week than they used to, but in many cases that's because of weird beefs their companies have with certain networks.

  • As a non-fan, to be frank, what's even the purpose of the mini album comeback? Aside from cash grab and start of tour in the US and Asia, of course.

It's very late in the year, limited promos since stations are preparing for year-end shows and awards, and FIFA's ongoing. Lastly, it's not like they lack songs for their tour.

Should've stick with Boys Like You instead, then come back early next year.

Or release Boys Like You first, then Checkmate comeback after a month or two, and announce the tour later on.

    Well, that's just what I think. :finger-heart:

  • You answered yourself very well: quick cash grab.

At least the songs are good so I have something to enjoy from it.
