🎃🍁 [RESULTS] 2022 HALLOWEEN/FALL AESTHETIC COMPETITION

One week ago today, the official announcement was made for this contest!

We had 4 judges

16 participants...

And only 3 prizes.

And FINALLY, today is the day we get to find out who gets these prizes and who came out on top!

The moment we've ALL been waiting for is finally here!!

The results of the 2022 HALLOWEEN/FALL AESTHETIC COMPETITION!!

But first, before we get to the results, let's give a huge round of applause to the judges! They worked hard to give out their ratings and reasonings despite them having other responsibilities to attend to.

here are the winners of the aesthetic competition!!

In THIRD PLACE we have the wonderful nevermore who absolutely wowed the judges with their usage of this classic icon of a movie! They will be receiving 300 akorns.

In SECOND PLACE we have the amazing LovenRose who tackeled this theme incredibly well and this effort won the heart of the judges! They will be receiving 500 akorns and an existing badge of their choice!

In FIRST PLACE we have the spectacular @/Yoonminnie who took this competition by storm! Not choosing to go the Halloween route and went down a more autumn-esque path, we were extremely impressed by how well this was tackled! They will be receiving 250 akorns AND a custom static badge of their choice!

I love the introspective aesthetics and warm colors of this fall-themed treatment, which isn't a straightforward fall theme with the addition of the rippling grey and white checkerboard (perhaps a nod to Wonderland or an alternate dimension.) I think it's both beautiful and interesting, from the colors to the time-space distortion.

There's a good level of complexity without it feeling too busy. It's like a nice autumn collage with a bit of a nostalgic flair. I'm not wild about the photoshop-esque checkerboard background though, I feel like it stands out a bit too much in an odd way. Overall nice vibes, and a strong cohesiveness between the dp and signature without being samey.

This aesthetic is gorgeous! This reminds me so much of the fall aesthetic that I love so much and why this season is my favorite! The level of creativity, the quality of editing, and the cohesiveness is off the charts and I’m so in love with the work that you’ve done here. It feels so aesthetically pleasing and poetic, not just in the wording but the pictures itself.

I love the way the pictures suited the quote - like the way she vanished in the PFP and the side panels of the candles and elements and the way the camera moves in the sig and the PFP. I kept watching it because I found the movement really interesting, in addition to the rich colors.

Most people would choose a face picture for the dp, so it's an interesting creative choice to only show the figure from behind. It adds an air of mystery. Overall the aesthetic feels decently cohesive, and I like that the text and the side panels in the signature add visually and thematically to the aesthetic without being too distracting from the main image. A nice balance.

I’m in love with this aesthetic! Cry for Me was one of the best choices for this competition. You captured the spookiness of the season very nicely. The borders that you used from the videos was honestly so creative and even though you used Nayeon for the pfp and Momo in the sig, it flows so nicely that you can’t even tell the difference. It would really tie it together if the shade of red you used for the text was darker or in gradient and slightly smaller. Maybe with a font like times new roman if not something spooky.

I think this is so beautiful and simple, yet emotional. I love the middle panel with the bright burst of butterflies that creates interest between the highly saturated color blocks. It's wistful and hopeful, which is enhanced by the PFP and her outstretched hand.

Something about this is just really visually stunning. There's a nice balance between cohesiveness and variety that's just so pleasant to look at. I would've maybe liked to see a little purple or pink in the signature just to really tie it all together, but it's still mesmerizing as is.

This aesthetic is gorgeous! I’m personally a big fan of Tim Burton movies and you captured the Bride Corpse condensed into an aesthetic really well. The color scheme and scene choices are so pretty and cohesive. Even though it’s a Halloweenish movie, it is still very light and captures the sense of love at the same time. It’s very simple, however, and I wish more was added to it to make it really come through. A poetic line, quote or lyric in a blue font would’ve been perfect for this, in my opinion. Since my score is already really high for you, I’ll go ahead and add another 0.5 to your score!

This is wonderfully creepy and I love the smoking voodoo doll as the pfp, which is eye catching and unexpected. The shots really set the mood, while the side panels accent it nicely with a burst of color, without taking away from the main plot in the center panel.

Definitely got that creep factor going. I like how the dp is cute but also creepy in a way that doesn't make it feel too disconnected from the more gory and creepy signature, and the misty visuals of the side panels help bridge the gap between the mist in the dp and the blood in the signature. The use of emojis is cool... or it would be if I could see them. Unfortunately, as for many on pc, they just show up as boxes for me.

The choice that you used for your aesthetic is honestly one of my favorites! It’s perfect for this contest’s theme and the whole thing gives me the chills! The cohesiveness with the pfp and the sig is so good. It’s personally not my cup of tea but overall very good.

I really love the mood and color palette here. It's a little eerie and something is happening that's a little witchy but I don't know what and I'm intrigued. The PFP fits perfectly into this theme - intriguing, moody, lovely.

It's very beautiful, with a nice haunting and sad air to it, like a ghost story with a tragic background. The use of a side shot in the dp adds to the feeling that I'm witnessing some sort of tragic tale that I can only watch from the sidelines. It's a bit simple though, I think having a little more going on in the signature could've enhanced things. Maybe some text that enlightens us a little on the story being told in the images or something.

I feel like this was one of the best scene choices for this theme! The eerie, spooky vibes I get from this is so chilling and I love it. I would’ve added a little more to the signature to tie it together but you can tell that there was a story to be told through this aesthetic. While simplicity is great, it may be a little bit too simple. Other than what you used, there’s nothing really else going on. Overall, pretty good. A little more would make it even better.

I think this treatment is so fun and constantly interesting with all of the movement happening in each panel. It's whimsical and colorful and captures the spirit of Halloween with a playful wink. I really liked the alternating use of the purple and color, and the way that helped the black cat panel stand out. The PFP suits the playful fun here, but I just wish it had some of the same bright colors or a little stronger visual tie-in to everything else.

I adore the dp and signature separately, but there's very little cohesiveness between them. The dp has a beautiful faded creepy vibe to it that makes it a real treat to look at, and the signature has a bold and bright palette that brings several different visual styles together to work nicely as a fun set. But the two just don't sit at the same table.

I love everything going on with this but I would have made the it go from black to the purple gifs in order or vice versa, as the color clashing was a little distracting at first. Miss Monoban looks bomb.

I kind of like it, but at the same time, there’s a lot going on. I would’ve added static photos to sort of even the activity out and kept the color scheme more consistent, maybe adding a purple mask to the starfall gif to make it really cohesive. The Lisa gif doesn’t really add to the aesthetic, though definitely cute in itself. I also wish that it was slower but I love all of the edits. Those are really creative. I also love your signature formatting. It kind of reminds me of those mood boards you see on Tumblr, Pinterest, or Instagram, and it has a very nice aesthetic to it (even though the bouncing pumpkins and the cat gif are pretty different than the other ones. I would’ve removed those if I’m being completely honest, but they still look really nice together.)

It's the choices here that really elevate this one for me - it's dark and a little comic with the 'uh oh' hands, and the choice of the PFP. You didn't choose the emotional connection of a face but opted for the blood splashing out the blender, which caught my eye and kept me interested to "see" the rest of the story. The pictures tell the story and I like too the way the blender is fast while the zoom onto the person is slow, as well as the way the blender and person move, but "the mess" is a static shot.

Gory without actually being gory, and the use of a blender as the dp is quite creative and interesting, but it feels kind of strange to have equal space given to a moving image and a still image in the signature. I just keep waiting for the image on the right to move, and it never does.

AAAHHH YASSS A GOREY ONE! I am a horror nut. I play so much Resident Evil and Mystic Nights. I appreciate this so much. I loved how clean the gifs were cut, the way they were sized, the coloring. IT ALL.

The whole concept from this aesthetic is honestly so creative and cohesive and I appreciated that. However, I do wish that both of the files in the sig were gifs instead of just one. It gives the illusion that the photo on the right is going to move but doesn’t and makes it a bit off balance in my opinion. I also wish that the static photo in the signature was cropped or resized to match the width of the gif or vice versa. It could be smoother but great in the cohesiveness and creativity area!

It would be nice if the signature gifs were a uniform size and all showed up on the same line (that's how the other 2 got missed at first), but as it is we just have to use our imaginations for what it might've been intended to look like, which really detracts from the aesthetic's potential. I like that there are hints of a story beyond just the theme of fire and terror.

I actually really like your usage of this music video here! It’s simple, but it’s easy to the eyes and overall pretty enjoyable. I will say, however, that the gif in the signature is really short, so the looping isn’t as smooth. To fix that, it would’ve been better if it was slowed down a bit. I love the quality of the gif you used for your profile photo! The signature is great as well, I just wish it was a little darker and matched the exposure of the profile photo. And I love your creativity with the burning in the background! Other than that, though, there’s not much similarity between the others. Very cool choices for the gifs though!

I'm not sure what the falling red stuff in the dp is, but the choice of side panels in the signature creates a feeling of thematic consistency. The cut to black in the main signature image makes it feel dramatic and creepy as well, which helps keep the aesthetic slightly more interesting to look at.

I’m a huge fan of the Castlevania series and I feel like the sheer force and power of Dracula were captured well in this submission. However, not much is added to it and I wish that wasn’t the case. The gif in the sig is really short and I think it would’ve gone amazing with some text or another accent. Overall good but simple.

For this one, I like the creativity and cohesiveness of it and I loved how you took a brighter approach to this whole competition. However, other than the bright colors and creative concepts, nothing really stands out to me. It’s overall very simple and maybe a little more could’ve been added, like something to accentuate the colors. I also wished that the gif in the sig was a bit slower so that the loop doesn’t look as choppy. Simple yet creative! You also get a point because you won the vote for your group!

Like I'm really interested to know how the spooky girl with the candles and the guy with the gun connect and do the purple hearts on the border tie in too?

The little Halloween-y decorations are so cute! You don’t really see those on AKP aesthetics and I wish I could use them but I can never find them. My main complaint is that the gif in the signature is kind of out of place here and is a darker contrast to the lighter vibes that the cuteness and pastel-ish colors of the DP and decorations give.

It's cute, and it stands out a bit because it's the only entry that feels like someone wearing a costume purely for the fun of it and not necessarily just to be on theme for the holiday. I like the use of fun bold colors, and the cohesiveness isn't too bad, but the side panels in the signature are a bit distracting due to their size. I would've liked to see more focus drawn inward to the pretty center image, or maybe something more interesting to look at on the sides if our attention is to be drawn there.

I love how cute this is! The creativity and cohesiveness is really nice. It’s not too terribly simple and has just enough to where it’s not too much. I do like the casing for the signature, but I wish that a little more was added to it, maybe some stickers, maybe a more spooky font. Also, in my opinion, there’s too much use of bright orange. I think it would be nice with a little contrast or a little shading for the main color for the frames in the sig. Nicely done but just isn’t for me.

I like the way this one winks at the idea of the vampire with the quote about 'how you bite" paired with his lip bite. It's cheeky and fun. Because that's playful, I just wish the PFP had been in the same sort of spirit although it's a beautiful picture.

The vampire vibes aren't coming through very strong from the signature image, but I suppose there's technically biting in it, and the use of texture in the border is nice. I would've liked to see the dp be more warm toned or the signature be more cool toned just to create more visual cohesiveness between them since they're quite thematically different from each other. The HAPPY HALLOWEEN that flashes in the signature image also goes by so fast that it's more distracting than festive, especially with his handsome looks as the main visual focus here.

I like your creativity and how you kind of made Jungkook into a vampire from fanfiction (this is meant as a compliment, btw). I actually really like the text you used in the sig as well. I do wish that the border was darker, maybe like a crimson red, a really really dark shade or black would’ve gone well with this. The white kind of deters from what’s actually supposed to be happening in the signature. I also wish that the “Happy Halloween” in the signature was longer because, even though it’s readable, the flash is kind of distracting. A fade-in/fade-out text transition of at least 3 seconds would’ve been perfect for this. I also wish you chose different emojis for accompanying the text. It matches the theme, of course, but doesn’t really match the whole vibe of the other elements of this submission.

Very spooky. Almost so spooky that your signature is literally a ghost! And the green of your pfp reminds me of classic horror stories like Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde, or an evil scientist. 10/10 for spookiness. You’re lacking in pretty much…everything else :P
