Lets give credit to the forgotten members of IOI and Izone!!

  • Yeah it was Somi and Sejeong but I thought Doyeon was popular because of her body and face. I might have remembered wrong ;( And I put Yeonjung in the category because Cosmic Girls are successful but not super successful like the others and she still has potential to become more popular with more solo and acting work

Overall I think this thread was really accurate. And understand why you put Yeonjung in the category you did. :yellow-heart:

Doyeon was the least popular out of the visual-line. Chaeyeon and Jieqiong were the two main visuals of IOI (tho I always thought Doyeon was the prettiest) and Nayoung and Somi received more attention for their proportions than she did. She still got a lot of praise for her visuals and was clearly a favourite with fashion and beauty brands but no, she wasn't one of the main members popularity-vise.

Somi and Sejeong were ofc the most popular in the group. After the two of them Chaeyeon and Yoojung followed. Then it gets trickier but I'd probably put Jieqiong in 5th place and Sohye in 6th. Making Doyeon the 7th most popular.

  • Didn't Jung Chaeyeon take a 1+ year break? The fact she's still getting good gigs after that says a lot about her long-term potential.

She did. Forgot about that. The fact that she can leave for a year and immediately start doing relatively high profile dramas is impressive for sure.

And I think she attended a few actor award shows last year which is probably a good sign too (remember seeing red carpet photos)

  • Really? Why?

I don't really know much about the Chinese celebrity industry but she's been doing lost of dramas, been on a fair share of variety shows and has a new magazine photoshoot every month. Just checked and she's been confirmed for 5 new dramas. Pretty sure there are more opportunities for celebrities in China than Korea so being this active might not mean much but I think it's at least safe to say she isn't doing badly.

  • ikr. Is it accurate? You seem like you stan Ioi. DO you want to give us updates on Sohye and Nayoung

Sohye was recently confirmed as the female lead of a KBS drama, starring opposite Lee Sang-yeob who's fairly well-known from his appearances on Sixth Sense and Running Man and he was recently in a drama with Seo Ye-ji. I would say this is a real big step up for her and there would be a lot of eyes on this drama since he's a popular actor.

  • Hmm...for Izone...

I dont think Hitomi has disappeared, she is pretty big in AKB right now, she seems to be featured a lot in their recent stuff. Hyewon and Minju have disappeared but only because they dont do anything music related anymore. Damn you Minju, what couldve been :pepe-sad: .

Eunbi was never really popular among Wizones AFAIK, she's always been mid to bottom tier, same with Nako.

    Wonyoung

    Sakura

    Minju

    Chaewon

    Yujin

    Yuri

I think these were the top 6 in terms of Izone popularity within the fandom.

I think both Eunbi and Nako are pretty much doing exactly as how i expected, both solid with reliable fanbases and success but nothing exceptional in terms of charting or GP relevance.

  • Yeonjung has potential for success? She wasn't even that popular in IOI. I really don't see the potential. We don't hear about Hitomi/Nako but it felt like they were doing well back in AKB (although Nako is graduating soon to go acting). Also I haven't heard anything about Mina at all since Gugudan disbanded. Is she actually popular as an actress or something? Same for Jung Chaeyeon?

While Yeonjung doesn't have that star or popularity factor, I would say she's someone who's always steady and getting jobs. Outside of her group activities like comebacks and Queendom, she had 2 musicals already this year alone, one was the adapted version of hit drama Crash Landing on You.

As for Mina and Chaeyeon, maybe it's just you? Mina was recently in dramas Moonshine and Minamdang, and will have like a horror special coming out this week.

Chaeyeon was in King's Affection end of last year, and is the main female lead in Golden Spoon that's literally airing right now.

  • Sohye was recently confirmed as the female lead of a KBS drama, starring opposite Lee Sang-yeob who's fairly well-known from his appearances on Sixth Sense and Running Man and he was recently in a drama with Seo Ye-ji. I would say this is a real big step up for her and there would be a lot of eyes on this drama since he's a popular actor.

Wow, good for her. I was a bit worried as I haven't seen much from her recently.

  • IOI,

the undeniable success are Somi, Chungha and Sejeong

    Next up are

Yoojung - who has quite a following outside WekiMeki, variety gigs etc,

Chaeyeon - a mix of 2nd lead and some 1st lead roles.

Mina - has a steady stream of 2nd lead roles in K-drama, Doing well.

Kyulkung - I don't follow Chinese scene, but apparently she is doing well.

    Then

Yeonjung is headed into OST/Musical theater territory, That girl is simply a vocal powerhouse, but otherwise unpopular, but her skills are undeniable.

Doyeon - as long as Jung Hi Jyun is acting, she can play the younger version.. but no lead roles so far.

    Verge of getting forgotten are

Sohye - she had one good movie, but otherwise all duds.

Nayoung - she is getting to acting and variety, but nothing impressive so far.

    Izone

I don't know about the Japanese scene, but Nako seems doing well. No idea about Hitomi

    Top tier are

    Sakura, Wonyoung, Chaewon and Yujin

Next- Yena is doing better of the soloist lot and Minju

Then - Eunbi, Yuri - solos running on physical sales to Wizones,

Now Chaeyeon has joined, don't think she is going to do any better.

Nevertheless all of them will be better off, than 90% of other girls who attempt the idol industry.
