And Blackpink might be remembered in some similar way as Bigbang, as the legend best seller of their time with a impeccable style but mainly remembered for 1-2 important songs like D4 and idk Playing With Fire

And I feel like Itzy/Stray Kids is already blending in with other groups to new fans of K-pop but that could be part of the natural creep like DMV mentioned, plus IDK if you'd consider them top groups.

I was going to say Seveteen. They are like tvxq of the third generation. If anything Seventeen will be associated with their earlier songs instead of their newers ones.

I think it will be groups that were successful but were never in the discussion about being #1, #2 bg/gg. You can see that in Gen 2 discussions where people know the 1 or 2 groups and maybe someone with a monster hit, but haven’t heard of the others.

It’s odd to me to see NCT listed here, not because I’m a fan but because they have certainly represented something very different and became a shorthand to refer to a song or style. There was “noise” music before NCT and there will be after NCT, but at the time, they were unique for so unapologetically embracing it as a key and integral element of their sound that they they never shied away from. Whether or not people understand the unit system has no bearing on this. When people describe something as sounding like NCT or bemoan the NCT-ification of the music industry or post vids of their faves dancing to the complex choreo, it’s not about the group’s configuration.
