And what frustrates me is that Dice probably could have been a good song, but instead of completing it they just left it 75% done and added something that didn't work at all. I get that the mixing genres is their "concept" but why would you want to make your signature sound "intentionally bad music with clashing parts and a messy end result?" It was bad when Aespa did it in Next Level but ya'll liked it for some reason. But nobody has been able to successfully pull it off and be successful, not even Aespa. I think it's wrong to wish for a group to flop because if you don't like it just ignore it, but I genuinely don't want Nmixx to succeed with such absurd terrible music. I think we were starting to move away from that with (G)idle, IVE, and New Jeans success. This can't stay a trend any longer.
Yikes Nmixx

Plus the switch up has the same chord progression so it's not super jarring.

Why did jyp not learn their lesson the first time
They think that the 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 5th time might be the charm
-
Why did jyp not learn their lesson the first time
Cause they still sold 200k units. And charted on Melon even after initial backlash.
The better question is, why aren't the fans learning their lesson?

I distinctly remember Next Level having like the worst BOP vs FLOP ratio in history or something like that when they did that Bop vs Flop poll so I don't think that is true, I think the Forum actually disliked it jus the Korean Public loved it
-
You get used to that in Next Level but here...

I disagree since imo the problem is that it's boring af and there are way vocals in the song also there are no dynamic like force in the song to make it interesting or listenable

Initially we didn't like it. But it went on to become one of the most legendary songs of the 4th gen. Arguably the biggest hit of the entire 4th gen. It stayed in the top 5 of melon for like 6 months.
o.o also had a horrible initial reaction but now people are saying "o.o wasn't that bad, it grows on you" because they Stockholm-syndromed themselves into liking it. I worry that is gonna be the norm.

the difference is that in Next level the distinctive part serve a purpose in Aespa storytelling
the break down part represent the moment where they finally arrive in kwangya and reach BM
story telling wise it have a purpose
+ the fact that the song have a very addictive hook with a very simple dance and part to sing along, make that the song stick to your head and makes you want to comeback to listen to the "Next level" part and because you continuously comeback to listen to the song for the hook you end up listening to the break down part everytime and get used to it
meanwhile in NMIXX songs, the fact that they had 2 distinctives song mix together serve absolutely no purpose in the story telling of the mv or the song
and the song itself isn't interesting enough or addictive enough to make you want to comeback listen to the song and end up getting used to the change of part
Also big factor that you should not forget is also that the break down in Next level was surprising so it take a lot of people off because they didn't expect it and when you get surprise by something you're not expected you doesn't enjoy it a lot
i know a lot of people who disliked NL when they first listen to the song because of the sudden break down but actually like the song the next time they listen to it because they knew already what to expect anddidn't find it as bad than they thought it was
meanwhile considering that NMIXX build their entire sound on this, you already know what to expect so the fact that people still finish the song and don't like it, prove that it just doesn't click for jyp to do this type of sound

Next Level is a masterpiece, still the best song in Kpop since it came out last year.

I agree my friend
although I like it more than o.o it's still a very divisive song
