I don't remember the song but there a song that even uses past tense as a stand-alone sentence in the chorus. The reason it feel weird because the song lyrics before chorus doesn't seem to be connected

Large parts of anything written by Teddy, especially stuff where the choruses are just nonsense syllables, irritate me to no end.
