Police have launched investigations into Lim Young-woong's suspicious '0 point' broadcast score.

On the 28th, Yeongdeung-po Police Station received a report to investigate whether Lim Young-woong's 'Music Bank' rankings were properly calculated and assigned the case to the department in-charge.

A police official stated, "We need to check whether the rankings were really manipulated according to the contents. We have already started reviewing the relevant legal principles during pre-investigation."

Lim Young-woong's '0 point' broadcast score resulted in HYBE rookie group Le Sserafim getting #1 on Music Bank's broadcast despite Lim Young-woong overwhelming 'digital' and 'album' score.

Dispatch's investigation also showed Lim Young-woong's song was selected and aired on a number of radio programs and other KBS programs on the 7th raising further suspicions.

    1. [+776, -151] They're using investigative personnel for everything... is there really nothing much for them to do?
    2. [+418, -87] Lim Young-woong's digital score was much higher and they gave him '0 points' for broadcast?? It's indeed quite suspicious so of course they have to investigate this. I've heard his song many times on the radio.
    3. [+326, -45] It's honestly very questionable that Lim Young-woong's song kept disappearing
    4. [+192, -17] 0 points after he appeared on a number of shows.. isn't their rigging a bit much?
    5. [+134, -17] Lets investigate the bribes these broadcast companies are taking in from the back.
    6. [+95, -5] No matter how you look at it, the whole thing was really strange. This only blew up because it was Lim Young-woong. A lot of singers have suffered a lot of damage at the hands of KBS' production team. Be sure to investigate their connections to the 'Big 3.' This isn't just for Lim Young-woong but all other singers.. make sure to clarify it thoroughly!
    7. [+72, -6] He won by a landslide in the 'album' score but lost because of '0 point' broadcast score while a rookie won over him with 5,000 points? This is just.. this is why broadcast points shouldn't be a category used to determine 1st place on a music program.
    8. [+47, -0] But is this really the first time this happened? It's clear a thorough investigation has been needed so that talented singers don't suffer from broadcast manipulations anymore.
    9. [+42, -0] This isn't unique to just Le Sserafim but it has to be investigated thoroughly to avoid this from happening in the future.
    10. [+47, -16] Stock price manipulations, thesis plagiarism, career forgery.. all this in one year ㅋㅋ
    11. [+34, -6] This is clearly broadcasting company's "gapjil." Are they taking the viewers for fools?
    12. [+31, -5] Police really have nothing to doㅋㅋㅋ

  • It's their fault

If the votes were free, then no one would have given a f

They made people pay for votes so now it can be considered a fraud case.

These PDs are all shameless and won't give up even when some of them are in jail

  • All of the problems in that country and they put resources towards scores on a music show? This would be like the FBI investigating American Idol scores, wouldn't it? Ain't nobody got time for that.

  • They're looking into it likely less because Music Shows are serious business.

But because it's the music show of KBS, the government funded and controlled station. So any corruption there is a bigger deal than elsewhere

We literally have a federal department in the US to investigate things like this. The FCC regularly keeps tabs on game shows to make sure they're not committing fraud. :oop-bee:

  • wow :wow:

There was a huge scandal in the US back in the 1950s because there were like 5 game shows rigging their shows to keep ratings up with win streaks. It wasn't illegal at the time so Congress gott involved and new laws were passed to stop it.

All contest shows from game shows to shows like The Voice/American Idol run with a disclaimer at the end that portions of the show were edited, but nothing that effected the outcome was omitted.

  • to be honest, this is cool!

If you're even in the mood, they made a movie based on it back in the 90s called Quiz Show. It has Ralph Fiennes in it.

  • It's true South Korea needs to do a better job at investigating their serious crimes, but I don't know why you guys are acting as if these things are mutually exclusive. This is literally a police force with multiple departments and hundreds of staff. Sending a person or two to investigate this situation isn't going to have any effect on their other duties. Corruption, no matter how small, should be taken seriously.

It may not mean much to big company stans or groups who are used to winning such a "trivial" award, but there are probably lots of nugu groups out there who have been rigged out of getting their first wins that an investigation like this can help in the future.
