    Gotta love the B.A.P rep!

Due to you & another user in this thread’s influence, just finally added Zelo to my list lol~

I originally excluded him it because the last time I was a B.A.P fan, he didn’t write any of his own raps, but tbh most Kpop idols don’t, and he’s one of the fastest rappers in the game

Topp Dogg Jenissi is surprisingly good

Hongjoong & Mingi from ATEEZ are very good too

    Mino

    Solid choices fam :finger-heart:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Unfortunately, I don't know how to count certain votes as being higher ranked or having more weight than others, so this chart is purely a count of how many votes each Kpop rapper gets! Similar to the AKP's 100 Sexiest Women Thread.

If someone on this forum DOES know how to weigh them by user's personal ranking, please let me know, or help us make a new & more accurate chart!

Yaas, bitch! Love your post. :send-love-bunny:

Especially love how well you articulated the main problems with rapping in Kpop!

I especially agree that Kpop fans need to value the quality of writing in rapping in Kpop more, since it's such an important part of rapping, but unfortunately it's kinda hard bc most Kpop idol rappers don't write their own raps, and even for those that do, they're all rapping in Korean so most of us international fans can't really understand what they're saying w/o looking it up. And even if we do, due to the language barrier we can't fully appreciate the meanings of the words combined with how they sound and how they put together the rhymes together.

So unfortunately we have to mainly focus on what all idol rappers do, which is rap the way they were trained to do, and the biggest skill we can unite together is speed. Even tho as we both said, that's not necessarily the most important metric in rap nor does it tell the full picture.

Personally I still think in terms of BTS's rapline:

    1) RM is on top as far as BTS rappers go, mainly for his superior writing skills wordplay and authenticity coming through due to his long experience underground,

    2) then Suga has the edge with delivery and speed, while as well as having great writing skills, and also starting off underground making him a more authentic rapper than

    3) lastly J-Hope who has also very good writing skills and I like his flow, he's also the slowest tho which isn't everything but combined w/the authenticity factor that RM & Suga started off underground & J-Hope is an idol rapper makes me put him last

To be honest tho, I agree I like J-Hope's solo material the most out of all of them, and Neuron really gave some good points for his authenticity/credibility as a hip hop artist in general

Just quickly Googled "RM vs Suga's rapping skills" and found this great Tumblr post that I love (ya ik Tumblr is a toxic has-been and cringe, but occasionally you can find some good stuff okurr!):

What do you think about the possibility of JK's first hip hop song hinted at in this thread?!

    dsc

i've said it to my moa friends ft island and txt should get together and collab 'cause hot damn lol

so embarrassing and then the song ends up being catchy lol

Omg I just finally watched & listened to Cat & Dog for the first time in its completion and you’re right, it was strangely actually kinda catchy and cooler than I thought it was going to be! ಠ_ಠ

Can’t get over, “I JUST WANNA BE YOUR DOG!” tho~ ^^

    (complete with barking noises LOL)

Are FTISLAND even really still a thing anymore tho? They were already kinda old when I first became a Kpop fan 13 years ago in 2011, lmao~

OMG this gave me so much secondhand embarrassment, poor Hongki, and they even had to shame themselves in front of their rival country Japan bc this is a Japanese song, LOL!

When they started hitting on the White “hot blonde” girl came I cringed so hard and lost it inside~ and that guy in the puppy suit at the end!

A moment of silence for all Koreans who died inside watching this 8 years ago when this MV was released~ :pepe-pray:

One of RM’s songs off his new album, MV just dropped like yesterday lol, swear to god every other word is a swear word~

Guess he’s going back to his Original Gangster roots!! ^^:borahae: Which, tbh, I love~

I would have to say TWICE because they have so many mega hits. But New Jeans has been awesome since their debut. I love them both.❤️❤️

What does having so many mega hits have to do with who sings better?? :pepe-hips:

    KPop fan logic, I swear, lol~ :meme-picard-facepalm:

Not to say I don’t like both Twice & NJ (love Twice tho not a Once, & just recently began casually listening to some NJ songs and appreciating their visuals & a few lives lol).

To reiterate and affirm what the last couple people having been saying in this thread, Twice has a much stronger vocal line that makes for more powerful moments and is more impressive to watch live while they’re doing their much more powerful choreography at the same time, but NJ has a more consistent vocal talent distribution overall that makes them pleasant to listen to in their lives and less embarrassing to watch their encore stages.

NJ also looks considerably less terrified (aka not at all) to sing live vs TWICE too, who constantly look like they’re about to shit buckets in their encore stages, so that also helps, too. ¬‿¬

So I had a hard time voting.

Ultimately tho Jihyo, Nayeon & Jungyeon >> over everyone in NJ tho.

I admit Hyein is pretty good/not bad tho but nothing compared to TWICE’s powerhouse vocal line.

I also really liked this live by Danielle from NJ, but it might also be Live AR so not sure it’s the best example of her real live singing.

Hahaha, from serious hot alpha male guy in BL drama and idol drama to a beta male uke puppy on a leash doing pet play ^^

Someone needs to show him the song Cat & Dog by TXT (which tbh I have never watched in its completion bc the furry concept even tho I’m a MOA….the concept is that bad, lol)

OMG, 2 handsome & (probably both) vocally-charged men!! Bitches better drop him a solo just like they gave to Woohyun. ¬‿¬

JK he probably wants to be on the next Lovely Runner or Train to Busan or something loll ~

nah a member left or 2 did and they replaced them with jun, then i think his contract expired and he left/didn't renew or something. and he's mostly an actor now, but said he still wants to sing. So they brought back the other 2 who left for "personal/various" reasons despite one of them bad mouthing the members. but jun didn't come back :( when i first heard about this and they released an album that was EH. Jun was shown jamming to it and dancing and i'm like man i hate you lol. I"m just bitter because I found U-Kiss by stumbling upon mv's when jun was part of it. so the group feels empty to me without him.

Nooo, omg, you saw a video of him dancing to their album that he wasn’t allowed to be a part of? That’s too sad lol! :drinktears: Sounds like he really wanted to come back and they wouldn’t let him!!

Those capitalist bastards :cryingr: (jk don’t ask why I used the word “capitalist”, I literally couldn’t think of any worse insult ^^ )

    Now I’m mad at U-Kiss’s company too!! X( #Justice4Jun!! #BringBackJunToUKiss !!

Crap this may have sorta ruined their comeback for me now, too lol…….

it's not a bad song at all but damn am I still bitter over Jun not being there. And still huffy about the 2 members that left on bad terms being back like nothing happened. I mean good for them but blah! lol

TBH even after our sorta in-depth conversation last night/super early this morning, I still don’t really know what happened between them…. ;( Why are you so bitter?? Lol.

You said they kicked out Jun for being too good-looking and talented or something?? ^^

I'm pulling from very limited knowledge, so I didn't think I could contribute anything meaningful to the thread but I can say something to this ^^
I would also put Changbin on my list but I wouldn't underestimate the other members. Han writes well in my opinion and is a close second. I think he gets forgotten a bit, because he is also a good vocalist and Changbin's faster delivery overshadows him. And while he may not count as a rapper since he doesn't write (he has credits on mostly vocal tracks), I think Hyunjin has a good delivery in the rap verses he gets allocated. It's not all about pace after all. All that to say, I don't mean it as in they have to make anyone's Top 10, but within the group Stray Kids, I would give the other members a chance. :send-love-bunny:

Nah you seem plenty knowledgable on SKZ’s rapping, thanks sm for your insight! :cutes:  Stray Kids really do seem like they have one of the greatest raplines among Kpop idol groups overall and tbh I’ve always thought that, I guess I really meant going by most online opinions it seems like Changbin is the best by far in Stray Kids w/little disagreement on the matter? Sorry if I mis-worded it a little. Good to know the rapping talent there extends even past the rapline in Stray Kids!

I’ve heard other people mention Hyunjin’s rapping ability before too, I already knew he’s an amazing dancer from his Studio Choom video, and combined with his god-like visuals isn’t that basically unfair to have all in one person? :pepe-hips:

Btw can I take your post as 3 votes, 1 each for:

    1. Changbin

    2. Han

    3. Hyunjin ?

Wow! You really *ARE* an awesome and rare 4th gen fan w/an appreciation for 2nd gen artists! :woow: Well, I hope for your sake that Jun comes back again someday to U-Kiss so you can properly get into them and add them to your 40+-artist-long list of favorite boy bands that you stan! ^^

I remember thinking KNK were really talented and hot a few years ago 8| Sucks that they lost some of their members. Are they still popular?

Wow, then I guess we should *both* probably hit the hay soon so we can properly function during the day!

Yeah, badmouthing members does leave a bad taste in your mouth  Not sure I would want that member back in my favorite group again, either. Then again, I would still do anything to get an OT9 comeback from SNSD again w/Jessica despite all the bad-mouthing she's done on them, so that' s probably just lipservice from me~ ^^

Thanks for doing all the research, xx-jenn-xx ! Will have to check out that song by Jun later when it's not 5:30am over here anymore~

Well, I like Changbin and Soyeon from the new generation, I think these two have the best rap flows. Suga and RM from the 3rd generation of course. 2nd generation YG rappers.

Yes, YG 2nd gen rappers represent! ✊ "We we we da, we da leaders / You ain't in the game, you're just cheerleaders~" 🎶

Definitely Soyeon is the top of the line for new generation female rappers, I'll have to make a new thread for them later if this thread does well enough! Tho I might have to add Baemon to the mix, which is confusing because they're from 5th gen~

I always thought the Stray Kids rapline is really good but don't know much about the individual members, but I heard Changbin is doing the hardcarrying there, so I will definitely have to check out more from Changbin since everybody in this thread keeps mentioning him~ :woow:
