No. It's a nice fairytale that I wish I could believe in. But unless we can scientifically prove at some point the existence of the immortal soul within us, it's not something I can believe in.

I hope for just nothingness, like eternal slumber, especially since life has been difficult for me and my family.

I'm not sure. Maybe it's not as clear cut as we imagine it will be. Maybe our alien overlords would recycle us and put our essence back into another body on another planet. Maybe the AI running this simulation would just delete the data that was formerly you permanently. Maybe the nameless beings living in the darkness between galaxies would just devour our souls. Maybe this is just it and nothing after.

Still, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Our memories, sense of self and personality don't even survive brain damage/dementia, yet somehow we're supposed to be perfectly fine after we die?

Something clearly doesn't add up there, but I think it's fine if people seek comfort in the thought of an afterlife.

I also do believe Heaven, hell, and reincarnation exists. Still wonder if is it as describe by organized religion? Or could it be something else all together, I don’t have clear answers.

On this note, someone recommended me to read a book called Om Sety’s Egypt. It is related to all the archeological findings from an English woman named Dorothy Eady born in the UK in 1904 who claimed to be a reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian priestess and knew many things about a temple in Abydos; some archeologist believes her since she knew and found so many things accurately but others don’t. I may read it after I finish my current historical Chinese mystery.
