I will pretend they aren't, ignorance is a bliss
So yes EXO is indeed up for contract negotiations right at this moment

it freezes when they're in the military, so it's like 18-21 extra months. That's quite a bit more time.
No I don’t believe this to be true. I think it’s a misunderstanding. This is how I used to understand it as well. But it just means it doesn’t expire during military and their negotiations will start immediately upon discharge.

I don't think so. In 2019 Suho said the EXO contracts will end in four years.
“There’s two years left, or four years including time for military service, so we’re feeling relaxed as we think about it.”
I have a link to where he said it, but allkpop is censoring it because it's from a different website lol

Yeah? That means it’s frozen in place during military and when they come back they will negotiate. If you leave now for example you have to wait an additional 2 years.
People always misunderstand what “frozen means” but it only refers to not expiring.

Umm no, Suho said about four years from early December, 2019. That means the contracts for the k-members are ending in late 2023 (assuming Suho wasn't lying). In Luhan and Kris' court cases it was revealed that all members signed 10 year contracts at the time. The only possible reason that the k-members' contracts (excepting Kai and Sehun) would end over 18 months after Lay's is military time. Maybe I'm wrong and we'll get an announcement in the coming days, but it seems unlikely that SM would even have scheduled the fanmeet if they expected the members to leave just a few days later.

Nah. And also once contract expires it’s standard it extends month to month or more recent cadence till contract negotiations are done. So the fan meet isn’t really anything out of the ordinary.
If you enlist right before contract ends meaning beginning of 2022 the max time it’ll take for contracts to expire is end of 2023 hence 4 years being the max. All EXO’s contracts expire between 2-4 years and I think that’s what Suho means.

Lay mostly has his own fanbase in China, he is one of the biggest stars there.
Yep

Yeah but he honestly doesn't need them that much. He is mostly focused on China.
